Hello all
Just joined a few days ago and have been lurking getting the feel of this Forum.
I was braught up a Roman Catholic mainly because my mother is a devout RC from France and my father converted to please her. I went to an RC Junior & Secondary School but was always one of those annoying kids who asked awkward questions such as "When exactly is the Twelth of Never" after hearing the song.
I ended up realising I was never going to get satisfactory answers after continually being told "Gods' mysteries are things we mere mortals are not meant to understand" and went through all the motions at Sunday School.
Then came the time I was due to go for 'Confirmation' and take my 'First Confession'. I still remember the priest at Sunday School (Perhapse I should shorten that to SS) telling everyone that in the confession box that we would be speaking directly with God. As a kid I was excited, at last I could direct my questions straight to the Grinder and bypass the Monkey so to speak, so you can imagine my disappointment when on the day, in the 'Confession Box' it was the priest who answered me after I recited the "Bless me Father for I have Sinned" bit.
I still remember the conversation that ensued, with me stating that he wasn't God.
"My Son, I am acting on his behalf."
I stated that he told us all we would be speaking directly to God and the conversation went downhill from there with him stating that it was a sin to question the ways of God to which I answered that If that was the case then I was in the perfect place for that.
OK, I'm a coward and shut up after that, and for the next few years pretended to be a good RC, but over time after reading up on other Religions, Mystisism and finally Science. I have formed my own phylosophy of life which doesn't include any God and is basically to treat all as I would like to be treated myself.
My parents know I am not a practicing Christian, but haven't had the heart to mention that I'm an Atheist.
Thanks for listening to my ramblings.
All the best
Chris

Archeologists near mount Sinai have discovered what is believed to be a
missing page from the Bible. The page is currently being carbon dated in
Bonn. If genuine it belongs at the beginning of the Bible and is believed to
read "To my darling Candy. All characters portrayed within this book are
fictitous and any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely
coincidental." - Newsreader in 'Red Dwarf 2: Better Than Life'
