Your language just seems to be very inaccurate. What tradition is it? Tantric? Big Grin

I imagine God is quite glad you've got some new friends to talk to. He can take the cotton wool out of his ears for a bit!

Well, there are many parables and allusions to the Bridesgroom and the Bride, etc. Swedenborg recognizes a Divine Marriage especially in his book Conjugal Love, but such love is a chaste union of Goodness and Truth. I certainly has nothing to do with lust.

Agreed, it is different from lust. But it isn't the opposite. fr0d0 read the Catholic mystics. Or the Song of Solomon. Or read parts of Psalms. Augustine talks about God this way also, I have heard of him described as "the most God intoxicated person in history". Reading Confessions had a big impact on me.

God becomes very real to you when you get close to H'Shem.

The sh'ma
"Hear O I'srael H'shem our God H'Shem is one. You shall love H'shem with all your heart with all your soul with all your mind with all your strength"

This is the greatest commandment. It is calling people to love God. The church is called the bride of Christ, because they love Christ. When people love God, they live for God's glory and set their minds and affections on God and they become transformed into God's likeness. God adopts them as his children. It is very emotionally intense, and an ecstatic feeling to be unified with God and to die to self and see everything changed.

I has felt like I was in love with God many many times. That is what the Bible teaches, that is the first commandment. Christians are called to be the bride of Christ.

fr0d0 it is charismatic Christianity interpreting Catholic mysticism. I have also spent some time in monasteries.

If I had to guess, it would be earned honor and earned dignity that the Creator wants of us. Happiness/peace/tranquility can be the end goal of that, but it cannot be the goal of here and now, way too much suffering for that to be the case.

You'd think there would be a single, definitive answer to this question.

To go by the bible, God wants mindless slaves. He wants people who care about him more than anything, including their families and their own well-being.

You will be intellectually frustrated your whole life and never experience the unity and beauty of realizing the nature of God until you see that the world is greater than what you think in your mind.
