Skyrim's been out a while.
RE: Skyrim's been out a while.
I pitty the snow elves.

but I am enraged as fuck everytime I am suddently confronted with up to 10 falmer.

or when I hear a arrows whistle - followed by a "aaaarggh" - and the notification that I have been poisoned with some shitty falmer poison.

Well, regardless of that, the crafting skill is quite useful for getting your enchantment skill to 100, which is one of the most useful, because at that point you can put two enchantments on everything. Go out and find some supplies and soul gems, craft a bunch of useless items, put a bunch of meaningless enchantments on them to boost your enchantment skill, and then as a bonus you have a bunch of enchanted loot to sell, which you can put towards more supplies and soul gems. Works quite well, but there is no reason to get the crafting skill to 100 if you're using heavy armor. I'm not sure if it's worth it for the light armor.

I mean, you have to have a crafting skill of 100, it takes dragon bones and scales which take up half your inventory to carry around, and then, after spending all that effort to craft them, it turns out they're not even as good as the daedric armor?

WTF?

DragonSCALE armor is the best light armor in the game, better than Glass.

DragonPLATE is the second-best heavy armor by base rating in the game, just behind Daedric.

Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages Wrote:Although Dragonplate armor has a lower base armor rating than Daedric, the difference in base armor rating is not always significant. A full set of either type of armor can provide a character with an armor rating well past the 567 displayed armor rating needed to achieve the armor cap by applying the right combination of Heavy Armor perks, Fortify Heavy Armor enchantments while wearing the armor, and/or use of Fortify Smithing enchanted gear and potions while improving the armor. At that point, the lighter weight of Dragonplate (79 vs 96) may make it more attractive than Daedric (unless you have the Conditioning perk or The Steed Stone ability). Also, the materials used to make Dragonplate armor are generally available in larger quantities than Daedric Armor. Note that getting the Dragon Armor perk uses the same number of total Smithing perks as the Daedric Armor perk, if you take the left-hand branch of the Smithing tree.

It's hard work to make that Daedric armor, hard work to find the mats to. And even then... the armor might even be overkill.

To me, it's a stylistic decision by the time you've got strong enough smithing to make it.

Unrelenting force, here's the drake you're looking for: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Vulthuryol Smile

Fairly awesome dragon from a speculative lore standpoint.

Might come down to a mechanical skill difference. Skyrim is a game where you can potentially avoid all of someone's damage just by moving out of the damage zone. This is hilariously easy with archers, who you can force to lead you and then walk the other direction when their arrow releases.

Even better... the falmer can't even see you Tongue

RE: Skyrim's been out a while.
It definitely is a stylistic decision, but I thought the daedric armor was so much more cool looking. On top of that, people tend to act more fearful around you in the daedric armor. It does get to be a bit overkill, especially after you put two enchantments on each piece, but it's so much work that you feel as if you are well-deserved to be the badass you become.

(Edit: Yeah, smithing skill, not crafting. Sorry, it's been nearly a year since I've played.)

They also, just like almost every enemy, derp towards you along a predictable path. Makes AoE magics, especially the lingering frost magics, retardedly effective... and given the narrow pathways and tunnels they have to come along: it's just free exp.

Now... the DWEMER CONSTRUCTS on the other hand X_X Damn blighters are fast, skitter, jitter, jerk, and are in your face with tons of damage.

I'm glad we're talking about this now before I've moved forward much with my Nord.

Run around in only your underwear and see what people say. I did that after the last time I turned into a werewolf.

I consider smithing and enchanting as one and the same 'crafting' since if you're going to do it: you might as well go all the way Tongue

It's a fun way to play, though... and finding these hookers http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Daedra_Heart is some small amount of work.

Really wish the Dremora had played a larger role in the game. Undecided

The http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Atronach_Forge itself is pretty awesome.

Note: This allows a second option to reaching the ability to make daedric armor for someone who doesn't smith at all. Kinda cool. You can even enchant it (with random enchant) off of this, and forego enchanting entirely Smile

Alternate crafting methods 101...
