Because you are spreading unsubstantiated statements by a teen who has no other place to go and complain, this teen has run out of ears where she lives, so she came to the gullible. You say that Christians use unsubstantiated statements and that we are wrong for doing so, so stop complaining or stop using the unsubstantiated cries of this teen.

Fine, let's completely ignore everything the OP said and pretend he's lying. If you don't want me to assume what he says is true, then what the hell are you wasting your time for?

So when Christians pass on second hand statements it's not ok, but when atheist do so it is quite alright, double standard.

I believe that's what I said, by the way belief in God is not ignorance, ignorance is believing you can change our hearts and minds.

MA Wrote:As a side note, Satanism IS a religion and the law that allows Good News Clubs to operate in grade schools allows the Temple of Satan or the Church of Set to do the same, and there's no legal recourse a school has in that situation but to shut down all of its extracurricular programs...and I think the Church of Set would still have a court case if it was done specifically to exclude them from inviting children from a meeting with baloons and cookies where they can learn lessons from the Bible (the Satanic Bible, of course).

I believe I said that I would not object to any other type of club, I'm not saying I approve of what they may teach, this is America and the law of the land.

Really, the only atheist I know are white. Are you ashamed of being an atheist? It seems to me you would be doing something in your hometown, oh right you are not wanting people to know you're an atheist, again why. Then why are you here complaining about something you can't change.

What's wrong with us knowing where your school is? Good for their website, at least they are not ashamed of Who they stand for. The reason you do not want us to know where your school is, is simple you do not want people to know you're an atheist.

It can, however, be a place where atheist students can enjoy each others company without people like you sneering at them and lying about them, which you just did when you said atheists believe in nothingness. We don't believe in God. I don't believe true nothingness ever has or can exist.

I do not sneer at atheist, I do make my stand about what I believe and without the sneer or lying. I was talking about God, not existence, God in school is the subject isn't it. You're jumping to your own self definition of my statements. Let's stay on subject.

These guys are not operating in a grade school, the OP is about middle and high school, stay on subject and stop twisting things to fit your desire, so you can make them out to be monsters. Since middle and high school doesn't bother you what is your complaint?

Atheists can have lots of beliefs and lots of purposes...and atheist clubs are springing up in High Schools across the country and some of them have been around for years. But I've read enough of your posts not to expect honesty. You've been around here long enough to know what you're saying is false.

Again the subject is God in schools, I'm sticking to the subject why aren't you. My reference was a non belief in God and without a belief in God atheist have no purpose to stand on. I understand atheist have different purposes in life, I would be ignorant to say otherwise, so what I said was not false, you're just wanting to make an issue where none exists.

MA Wrote:The funny thing is that even if you're right about your own religion, you won't make the cut for heaven. The Bible is clear on how we will know a disciple of Christ and you are the opposite of it.

Only God can decide that, it's not your kingdom, and by what scripture says I will be with my God forever and ever. What could an atheist possibly know about being a disciple of Christ. You do not like the strong stance I take for my God, it irritates you to no end, and as you say, if I'm right wouldn't you want to know, I know for a fact that God is real and has made me a part of His life!!!!!!!!!

I want to hit my head against the desk right now. I don't tell people I'm an atheist unless asked because there isn't a pressing need to.

Hi, Marnie. What's up?

I'd like to inform you I'm an atheist!

I've told multiple people I am in fact an atheist when they've asked about my religion or what I believed. All of my close friends know I'm an atheist, but I guess more people don't know because I don't shout it to the world. Who goes around broadcasting their religious beliefs in real life anyway?

Why would I want people to know where I lived? You could look at one of the schools on the list and then know the area I lived in and the school I go to. Do you think people in real life call me Marnie?

@ Marnie, I do not know if they call you Marnie or not, we do here. I let everyone know I'm a Christian, I'm not ashamed of who I am. I took what you said as you were trying to keep it a secret, like yes I'm an atheist but don't tell anyone. Is your family atheistic, just curious. Oh, by the way hitting your head against your desk could result in bloody lumps and brain damage, believe me I know.

Couldn't have anything to do with the fact that your kind cultivate a presupposition that the only way to morality is through your holy book, and thrives on enforcing the belief that nonbelievers are evil and deserving of death, could it? Nothing to do with the fact that in America atheists are still a mistrusted minority group that routinely takes abuse from theists?

No, it couldn't have anything to do with those things. It must be shame, of course. Gotta be.

People don't closet themselves without good reason to, GC. Isn't it odd how many of those closets are constructed purely as protection against the supposedly moral Christian Right?

If one is not ashamed of who one is, then why closet, stand up for what one believes is right, I've always tried to do this, yes sometimes it gets me in trouble, but so what I can live with who I am and what I believe no matter what others think and walk proudly with my head up.

That is easy for a mature adult to state, but in reality the people who closet themselves are the children and teenagers who are fighting two wars, one within themselves and their changing bodies and minds while the other fight is against a society that with one breath informs them to think differently and then in the next breath berates them for daring to think differently. Young minds are easily molded and many times it is simply easier to closet one's identity than to go against the grain. It is a sad state of affairs, and the religious right is the biggest problem with adolescent low self esteem and suicidal tendencies. Religion does real harm to people, and it is one of the reasons I will always advocate for its removal from society.

You know, it's really easy to be unashamed being a Christian, because Christians are a privileged majority in this country and enjoy enormous benefits. Christians do not suffer persecution (in spite of all their claims to the contrary). Christians are not denied jobs because of their religion. Christians do not face the spectacle of public shaming and being demonized as followers of evil. Christians do not have to worry about their families and friends exiling them because of their faith. Christians do not have to fight an uphill battle to engage in politics. You get to enjoy privileges and immunity from discrimination because you chose to follow the predominant superstition. Good for you.

Why closet? I just fucking explained it to you: abuse from theists.

Surprisingly, some of us don't enjoy being subject to the assumption that we're evil, or immoral, or unpatriotic, because we don't believe in god. Some of us don't enjoy constantly having out belief system questioned as a matter of course by every theist we meet. Some of us don't enjoy the possibility of being belittled, condescended to, and excluded- if not outright assaulted- by you guys. We don't enjoy the threats of hell, the cajoling, the wheedling and dishonesty that theists routinely present as reasons to believe. We don't enjoy having entire career avenues locked off to us because we don't march in lockstep with the majority.

Those are all reasons not to come out. It must be really easy to "stand up for what you believe is right," when those beliefs also happen to align with the majority and would be lauded by most people just because of the word god, regardless of the actual beliefs. It's less easy when you have to contend with the very real biases and bigotry of people like you who can't step out of their privilege for even a second.

Come to Australia G-C....you'll be laughed at and ridiculed and told to STFU. THEN I would like you to "be who you are- and stand up for what is right" since being your personal "right" (aka xtian) in this country is contra to the Australian community as a whole imho
