The Spaghetti monster pushes DOWN with his noodley appendages.
You must be stoned for your heretical view.

Indeed.

"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

**Puff**

We're all sinners, you know.

That's why everybody must get stoned.

So sayth the prophet, Bob Dylan.

Say to them :

1.Do you know the difference between Knowledge and Beliefs ?

2.Do you know the difference with the verbs : "To know" and "To believe" ?

3.Do you believe that the Earth is flat ? no , because you know that the earth is a sphere.

4.Have you read "The origin of species" by "Charles Robert Darwin" ?

5.Why Adam (Hebrew : אדם) has a name who can signify "Human Being" or "Man" ?

They'll tell you that if it says so in their book, they "know" it's true.

Quote:3.Do you believe that the Earth is flat ? no , because you know that the earth is a sphere.
They'll tell you that's silly, but that Jebus did rise from the dead.

Quote:5.Why Adam (Hebrew : אדם) has a name who can signify "Human Being" or "Man" ?
They'll say that he was named for mankind, but that he was an actual person.

Christian apologism can make up something for any rational argument you give them.

I'm pretty sure the mentally disturbed are capable of thinking that belief affects reality. But as Phil Dick once said, "Reality is that which doesn't go away when you stop believing in it."

no more than somebody can "believe" in water comprising hydrogen and oxygen.

or that mammals are endothermic and reptiles are exothermic.

But no, it's chemists who make you believe that. as do zoologists and biologists similarly....lol!!

I really think it depends on what sort of philosophical view on epistemology the said person hold. If he/she happens to be a Pyrronist ( or a modern Fallibilist ), for example, then evolution can only be believed given that all knowledge if merely an aproximation of the truth.

If the person is a scientific-realist with the knowledge science can provide, then merely "believing" in evolution would be unfair, given it's a theory with tons and tons of evidence from all over the world.

A scientific realist can also call any theory an approximation of the truth (as they claim to be nothing more to begin with).
