"I'll pray for you."

RE: "I'll pray for you."
I think it's hilarious and great when people say they will pray for me. They are just setting themselves up for disappointment.

I don't think anybody has actually told me they would pray for me. This might be because I tend to stay away from people who are so dependent upon the help of invisible friends in order to simply function through their daily routines.

Not when it comes to the internet of course. Angel

I've been told that several times. Good point, I wonder if anyone ever really did? Probably sometimes.

I think my wife has prayed that I become religious again. I don't have the heart to ask her why she thinks her prayers aren't being answered.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

When I needed help the most from the chruch, all i got was "I will pray for you". I went to a chruch that had Ferrei, Lamborgini, and several other luxury cars. When the altar call was made for people with financial distress, atleast ten people walked up for prayer. I then observed no one apparent millionare got up to help according to their book states. I am a preachers kid and my father never turned people away, however we never had money ourselves (seems that legit pastors are poor as dirt.) but if he could he would try to help. "Let me pray for you" Sounds like a mere cop out when actions would have been more effective.

Reminds me of my wife's aunt referring to a particular church near her house as "St. Mercedes" because all the rich Catholic snobs went there.

That is a really bad, fake-looking dinosaur. What is that around his neck, a beard?

Hey, you leave Boris alone! Pretending he's in ZZ Top makes him happy!

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I get it all the time. I often think to myself when someone tells me that is..and what exactly is that going to do?

They think there helping, and if they feel all warm and fuzzy inside that's fine...but it has no relevance to me.

I get told this all the time, usually towards the end of a debate when I've refuted all their points and they've run out of things to throw at me. I'll often reply with "Thanks, make sure you pray really hard, all the other theists that are praying for me can't be doing it properly, I'm still an atheist"
