I've had to let go of two of my furry friends in the last year. It's brutally hard but just shows how much love you had for them and how much they meant to you. In time the sadness will fade and you will be left with all the good memories. My condolences.

We let Popeye go this morning
|
Pappy, I'm too new to know your history with Popeye, but I do understand all about letting go a special life's companion. Whether human or animal, it is a rough go to get through it. I am sorry for your loss, and I'm glad you're planning to have another soon. Best to you.
My sympathies to you and yours, Pappy. I hope your search for another friend is fruitful.

Ok, after reading this post I thought: "I really want a dog again".
But I'm not sure if I can deal with the pain of losing one again It really hurts...
Any spelling mistakes are due to my godlessness!

The memories of love will remain long after the pain is gone. Providing a loving home to another hound without one is the best way I can imagine to honor Popeye's memory. Aw, I'm sorry. I know it must be really difficult.
So sorry for you. I know from personal experience how this feels and it stinks.

Pops turned 13 last month which is getting on up there for a greyhound. I posted in another recent thread about some of the health problems he was having and said then we didn't expect to have him with us for too much longer. I've been preparing myself for this day for a while now. (August 17, 2013 at 3:58 pm)Minimalist Wrote:Quote:Yes I plan to get another Grey soon. There is something else I am seriously considering doing. As our various hounds and fosters have passed away over the years I've always made a donation in their memory to the adoption group they came from. But Pops came out of a special needs program with a broken leg. Depending on the seriousness of the injury medical bills for a hound like Pops can cost an adoption group between $2000 and $6000. I'm seriously considering offering to foot the bill for the next broken leg hound the group he came from brings into their special needs program.

I had the opportunity to chat with the President of the Greyhound Rescue out here (there is a track near Tucson) and I can assure you that they would appreciate that.
They get lots of dogs with leg fractures. |
