Well now that that's out of the way, let me share my sentiment. Finally we will have a government that won't go making excuses as to why we have to run budgets in the red. Labor thinks that money grows on trees, and every time they get into power, the first thing that they do is find taxes to raise (on alcohol, tobacco, resources, and carbon!) and then leave the coalition to repay it.

Do you know the price of scrap steel in Australia is $60/ton. I spent two full working days doing nothing but scrapping steel, and I managed to sell 9tons of it - oh actually it took two of us. Anyway, $500 would be nice, but oh wait the government tax on it is $30/ton, so that's only $250 I get paid for it. divide that by four and that's, oh, $75 each per 8 hour day - not even counting vehicle costs. And I still have to pay 10% GST too. You wonder why people don't recycle anymore, Labor and their extraordinary taxes on everything. The excise was put up at the start of the year from $25/ton to $30/ton. Isn't it great to know that when we try to do the right thing, instead of being rewarded we're totally screwed by Labor's extraordinary taxes?

I'm just glad to see the end of this fucking nonsense, and I'm hoping that we can see some of these completely anti-business and anti-recycling policies change for the better.

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

The best out come. Liberals don't get it ALL their own way and have a healthy cross section of competing opinions against them whilst having the majority in parliament.

I await their performances....they have 3 years.

I have read their policies and I disagree with that statement of yours, especially given you are a Christian.

Then you're an idiot. You disagree with me because I am a Christian - not because I am a member of the Liberal party? Which do you think is more relevant to this situation.

Go practise falling down again.

Sorry Daniel...but YOU have to be "out of your mind" to think that anyone on here will disagree with you solely based on your religious ideology.

I will take back the "especially given you are a Christian" bit, however I still stand by my assertion that the Sex Party had the most rational policies of any of the political parties of note standing in the Federal Election held last Saturday.

RE: Australian election thoughts
Bullshit they do. Their main policies page http://www.sexparty.org.au/policies.html

From their drug policy page (not the marijuana specific page) at http://www.sexparty.org.au/federal-drug-policy.html
Quote: Safe and Responsible Consumption:

1. Immediate cessation of the use of drug sniffer dogs in public.
2. Subsidised and high quality drug testing kits to be made available through pharmacies, age restricted premises and mobile distribution centres.
3. Laboratory quality drug testing stations to be provided at all music festivals and the like.
4. Legalise and increase the number of medically supervised injecting rooms.
5. Legalise the prescription of heroin to registered and habitual users.

...

Drug Testing:

Drug testing for employment only be used where there is an impairment that affects safety of self and others and that tolerances have established benchmarks similar to alcohol blood limit.

From their anti discrimination policy page http://www.sexparty.org.au/federal-equality-policy.html
Quote:
Anti-discrimination
Enact state and federal anti-discrimination laws making it unlawful to unfairly discriminate against people on the basis of profession, trade, occupation or calling

Issuing appropriate documents to sex and gender diverse people including the use of a person’s preferred title and pronouns on all records and the ability to change legal documentation such as birth certificates based on self-identification

Now you can't discriminate against a drugged up lawyer-cum-politician who insists that you call him "emperor von lord bishop (name) the IVth"
Quite frankly I want to be able to ban any and all slightly high (on prescribed heroin) lawyers or politicians from my (yet to be established) fine establishment, the prostitutes are fine, but the politicians would give the place a seedy feel.

RE: Australian election thoughts
"Sex party"???? Is that a political satire party?

We have one of those here too, their main political goal is to rebuild the wall with the slogan "I love Germany so much that I want two!"

Not quite TGAC.

We have a two party system here. I would like to think that the Australian Sex Party and the Australian Secular Party are to become the minorities / alternatives to the Other minority parties that have let the Australian people down. (pun intended towards the Greens)

I see nothing alarming from your links Stu Denim

Yep I was going to go through their policies one by one and explain why they're batshit insane, but hey it should be fucking obvious!

Here's another one:
Quote:Abortion
  1. To enact national pregnancy termination laws along the same lines as divorce law — which allow for legal, no-fault and guilt-free processes for women seeking termination
    1. Uniform abortion laws across Australia.
    2. Full decriminalisation of abortion – removal from criminal statutes.
    3. Abortion to be treated as a medical matter not a criminal matter.
    4. All abortion providers to have authority to prescribe Mifepristone (RU486).
    5. Medicare funding for abortion at all stages of pregnancy.
    6. An abortion may be performed at any time with the consent of the woman and if a medical practitioner certifies that it is appropriate under the circumstances.
    7. Minors (under the age of 16) may obtain an abortion without the consent of a parent/guardian.
    8. Ensure abortion is a part of sex education in schools.
Now I don't know about you, Stue Denim, but I can assure you that most people do agree with having limitations on abortion, and what most people disagree over is where you draw the line. I don't see how anyone can draw the line 9 months into the pregnancy and hours before the infant is to be born; and in fact babies born at just 22 weeks old have gone on to survive - that's 5 months into the pregnancy. In any case, most people do not agree with the legalization of 3rd trimester abortions, just like most people do not think you should kill a baby!
