Now, the Greeks did tend to regard anyone who was not a Greek as a barbarian....although Alexander the Great was generally quite magnanimous to the Persians.

My wife with Macedonian heritage would correct you here that Alexander the Great was not Greek. He was Macedonian. There are some cultural similarities but they are not the same nationality and seem to have hated each other since the days of Alexander.

I have to agree here. Although they were separate nationally the Macedonians and the Greeks were basically the same people and shared a bit of the same culture and spoke the same language. The Macedonians even considered themselves Greek. But the Greeks considered the Macedonians to be uncouth and uncivilized until Phillip and Alexander rose to power.
