What's even sadder was what I read on a relationship forum where this Christian woman was divorced, but believed that, according to the bible, she was not allowed to get married or have sex until her ex-husband dies because if she does then she's guilty of adultery, but it was perfectly OK for her husband to remarry. She was obviously very sad & lonely and wanted to start a new relationship, but her religious beliefs kept her shackled to a life of misery. The sad part was that she accepted the double standard that it's not adultery for her ex-husband to marry someone else, but she wasn't allowed to.
Why worship a god that wants you to be miserable?

That's pretty messed up.
I'd look at it like this. The bible mentions that if you've lusted in your heart then it's as bad if you've actually done it in deed.
By that reasoning I've boinked about a million women by now. What's a few more, this time in real life?
It's all the same according to scripture.

You might as well bed down any woman you've lusted after and get some real enjoyment out of the same sin for the same consequences. Because if lusting after a woman in your mind is the same as committing adultery then why not? Why should I be punished the same for thinking about having sex with a woman as for actually having sex with a woman? Might as well make it worthwhile.

Sounds kind of like poor Eva Warrington and those children who have been killed in those "faith-based healing" scams, where parents have prayed for their children's health to improve, instead of getting them medical attention.

I often wonder what goes on in the minds of people like this, how could she think I loving god would want that for anyone?

No. Her religion was just an excuse to stay in a fucked up marriage. If this god does not rate the severity of sins (which we are often told he does not), why would divorce be any worse than the other sins she committed in 40 years?
