Um, yes. I know this from the people we're fighting.
They are introduced to guns from an early age, so when they leave for the mountains to join with the other militants, they do receive gun training, though that is only to get used to the gun, while our recruits, who have never ever had a gun in their hands, often are inferior shots to the militants, except for our special forces of course, who are more highly trained. But for privates, the training usually takes up at most 3 months, this amount of time won't make you into a good marksman.
Still no. Who is 'we'? You started off saying 2nd Amendment, implying America. Now I'm thinking you're not? Your understanding of american militias, assuming this is what you speak of, is lacking. I can't follow you well enough to comment further.

I don't think you are understanding him. I think he saying that the typical Afghani is a better marksman with a rifle on average because they have lived in a heavy gun culture all of their lives and enter the war a more seasoned marksman than do the average American GI, with special forces exception. I also attest to this as I grew up in an unusual gun culture in the Appalachian mountains and was a far superior marksman than many of my later military friends and policeman. However, American GI's are also trained in how not to get shot, which is an important skill that the Afghanis don't get.

We would all like to insure that.
I can't discern what your point was, though. Shotguns aren't less regulated than rifles.
Are you suggesting they be more regulated than rifles, or did you not know the regulation is the same?

What I don't get is legion. That said, his wording is what's throwing me.
He's a Turk, so adding Afghani's to the mix is another potentially confusing point.

Strict gun laws clearly don't/won't make a difference in this country. I've seen countless arguments for and against gun laws and behind every shooting there is always the same story. Insane person gets their hands on a weapon when they shouldn't have one and goes ballistic. Simple as that. Guns aren't to blame here, it's the shops/doctors not doing their jobs. Let's take a look:
Aurora: guns purchased by a person who shouldn't have had them. The fucking guy visited THREE doctors prior to the shooting and one suspected he might be unstable, yet no records of that were made apparent where they needed to be.
Newtown: gun stolen by insane person. Failure of the owner to properly secure them.
DC: gun purchased by a known mentally unstable person who passed all checks somehow. (???!!!)
What do I see here? A failure of the system to properly keep track of who has mental disorders. Something needs to be done about the communication between doctors and whoever needs this information during a state and federal check. Banning guns won't help perps who want to kill someone. They'll just buy them illegally or use a knife/chainsaw/car, whatever, and you've then disarmed all the honest people who care about their lives and the lives of those around them.

Gee, what I see is the failure of a system to keep these weapons away from people who can buy them or steal them.
The perps could be as batshit crazy as they want but it is their ability in the US to get their hands on these weapons that is the problem. (That, and the fact that "responsible gun owners," whatever the fuck that means, always seem to have an excuse for why that one time they weren't responsible.
There is blood all over the streets in the US and we just can't seem to figure out the difference between us and Western Europe/Japan.

Europeans prefer things that go 'pew, pew, pew' to be yellow and fluffy. Perverse chicken lovers, they are.
We'll have none of that here in 'murica, by god! Not so long as I have my twin belt fed $200 stamp approved harbingers of freedom! Yee hah!
(I dunno. The preoccupation with guns is sickening.)

I don't like discussing this issue with people from other countries (or a lot of people in this country) because they just don't get it. Japan doesn't seem to have the subculture of "thugs" that the US does. I'm not going to point fingers or start any massive back and forth debates, but trying to compare two entirely different cultures and saying that one set of rules will work for both just doesn't make sense.
I invite you to come here and stay for several years in some of the inner city areas of Detroit, DC, LA, etc.
And that's all I'll say.

Who are you talking to? I grew up close to Philly and NYC...currently living in one of NC's largest cities, and I think Min is a transplanted New Yorker living in..Pheonix? Neither one of us is naive(or foreign) like you apparently think. So please...discuss away.

Yeah, NY had stringent gun control laws. Unfortunately, Georgia did not and people could fill up their trunks with guns in Georgia and drive right to NY and sell them for a nice profit. We have a wonderful highway system.
