The Legend of Zelda

RE: The Legend of Zelda
I only played the Wind Waker. When I was 7 I got stuck in some prison and stopped playing. I have the official guide to Oracle of Seasons but never played it. I basically know the game. Tongue

I think the prison area is where I stopped playing too. I love the Oracle games and got the guide for both.

Esquilax loves him some Zelda, it's one of his favorite game series. My personal favorite is Majora's Mask, just because of how fucking creepy and weird it was. I'd buy a remake of that in a heartbeat, especially since my N64 is entering its twilight years.

My sister and I have deeply held childhood memories of Ocarina of Time, the strongest of those being just how terrified she was of the ReDeads, those screaming zombies that showed up from time to time. God, there was a lot of fun a kid could have with that knowledge. Devil

I've only ever played the Ocarina of Time, on my N64... emulator.
Nice game... a bit too long, so I can't see myself picking up another Zelda any time soon...

Also, I'm not afraid of using google to get out of tough spots in the game! Tongue
And the save/restore function on the emulator sure helps a lot! Big Grin

Most fans of the game I talk to were afraid of the ReDeads. I had already played Resident Evil before that so they didn't bother me all that much.

Majora's Mask's moon will stay with me forever.

Well, if you really want to jump on your seat a few times, get Amnesia:the dark descent for the PC. Play it in the dark with sound in high volume or headphones. Guaranteed you will have the hairs on the back of your head raised a couple of times.

I played this in the daytime and headphones.
My kid... must have been 6 or 7 at the time... decided to watch... Even with no sound, he got scared!
Serves him right... I watched Nightmare on Elm Street when I was 8 and... well... spent 1 year recovering... Tongue

I ain't doing that to my eyes. I have the game, though. It's on that ever expanding request list for the reviews I do.

I like how my friends request games that would either scare me or make me want to pull my hair out.

This guy makes some of my favorite reviews... and he doesn't like a lot of games...

RE: The Legend of Zelda
Oh I absolutely love OoT! I've spent so much time immersed in Hyrule that I've actually used the Master Sword to jump back three days to the start of this thread.

The first time I encountered Zelda was A Link To The Past on the SNES and I was instantly hooked. So when I found that a version was coming out on the N64, I made it my life's mission to buy it on the first day of release. I've never been disappointed by that decision. (And that final sequence, and that final image, has haunted me ever since).

I do like Majora's Mask, in its own way, but it seems to me to be less structured, inasmuch as it tries to cram as many of the characters from Ocarina in as possible without really justifying their presence. As such, to me it's a less satisfying gaming experience.

I've sort of lost track of the series after that, though I enjoyed Spirit Tracks on the DS.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
