Greetings from Virginia!
November 20, 2013 at 12:35 am
As the thread title says, I'm from Virginia (part of the U.S.), the land of the Baptists. Seriously, the place -- at least the Chesapeake bay, where I live -- is infested with them. I've probably only met 2-5 atheists outside my immediate family in person. I've been lurking for a few weeks now, and I've finally decided to join in the debating and theist-crushing.
I'm a 15 year old aspiring engineer. I've always been an atheist; I remember hearing bible stories at the Christian preschool I attended and thinking "Why are they telling such dumb stories?"

Welcome. I just moved away from Virginia last year after 25 years living in both Richmond and Roanoke.

Hm? Someone younger than myself! Then again, I don't actually know how many teens are one here. I wonder what the age distribution would look like...

Hello and welcome to AF! ^_^
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

I doubt there are many. In my experience, teenagers are the most unquestioningly religious group around.

You're so young I could be your mom. Like if I had you as a teen. A very young teen, but still teen. Now I'm thinking of when my oldest son is old enough to think of looking for forums and he encounters AF. He will read some of the stuff that I have posted and never want to look me in the eye again.
Walks out.
Walks back in.
Oh, welcome.
