Individualist communism? Are we just playing word games here? lol

I'm wondering why this crusty old thread, with its stupidly long and unnecessarily capitalised title is still alive. It's a damn eyesore is what it is.

I also lean towards socialism.
The same could be said for the GOP. They are both so far removed from the realities of their constituency it's become unfixable.

Idealistically I am an anarcho-communist, but I see that as a system that is never going to happen because it simply cannot happen.
So more practically, I am left-leaning, sometimes a socialist, but extremely willing to compromise and take less 'extreme' routes of solving societal issues (so long as it is not a 'half-assed' solution).

Individual apathy and compromise are quickly consumed by ever growing centralized powerful and controlling government. Vulnerability is the target of power. Historically, revolution would have been the answer. I'm not sure our hypnotized kardashian culture has even a 60's style counter culture movement in them. Social media has become the narcotic of the masses.

I take exception that liberalism is defined synonymously with U.S. democrats. The two major political parties in the U.S. are neither conservative or liberal.. They're corporatist.

I don't think there is anything rational or atheistic about ones choice of political party. But if your regard for others can't be summed up with "fuck em" then you're definitely not a republican. And if you can't stomach knowing people are starving in the streets to support your astronomical pay package, you have reason to vote against the party of fuck em. Now if you're clear the party of fuck em is an evil which must be avoided at all cost, then you have a rational reason to vote democrat. It just depends on how your values and priorities shake out.

Libertarian here so no dog in the fight.
That is a broad statement, have you met all republicans? Always thought Abe Lincoln had a good attitude towards others.
Fact is assholes cross all races, religions and political parties. Would you care for me to point out some examples?
