Any Boardgames enthusiasts here?

RE: Any Boardgames enthusiasts here?
All I've really played in years was poker. Mostly no-limit Hold-em, but I prefer Omaha 8. I'll play anything though. Used to make very good money playing live games, but I gave it up - it wasn't good for my mental health, not to mention the completely jaded and indifferent view of the value of money.

Love so many games... for board games, Balderdash, Risk and The Farming Game are particular favorites. I adore Pinochle and have a regular wee group to play with when we can all manage it. I enjoy poker but haven't played much in recent years -- the couple who used to instigate the games split up, dammit. I adore a good game of chess, but for some reason, no one I know seems to play much. Scrabble is a perennial favorite, and I can usually be talked into a game of backgammon or cribbage.

I need to do a game night soon. Smile

I'd forgotten about backgammon. Used to play that a bunch. How about Psychological Jujitsu? Each player gets one suit of cards to hold and play as he sees fit. A third suit is shuffled and turned up one card at a time. Then each player picks a card to play to try and win the up card. Once both players have their card ready to turn up they do so and the one with the larger card takes the up card. If the players tie, no one gets the card but it and the cards they played are out of the game. The rank of cards goes from one point for the ace to 13 for the king. In the end the player holding more points worth of up cards is the winner.

I play Diablo mostly and in Diablo, trash talking is as important as being able to win. Players always talk back, especially if they lose in a duel. Being able to type in insults fast in action while paying attention not to get killed while typing is a real skill to develop in the game so I find that it increases the typing speed by a lot and makes you type without looking at the screen. No kill is a real kill if you can't fit in one of these:

- Sit fag.
- play tetris
- easy
- fucking noob

What does this have to do with board games?

I gave up playing poker when I discovered that it was much easier and less stressful to set fire to a small pile of banknotes once a week.

As for board games, I like Risk and Crows.

If I ever decide to start my home game back up, you are of course welcome to play.

Thought I might be. My biggest problem is that the other players seem to pick on my most subtle tells, like when I yell out, 'HOLY SHIT, THIS IS THE BEST HAND I'VE HAD ALL NIGHT!!!!'
