This is probably not a habit, but more like a preference. I love maps. I love to travel with a map. I love to find places with them. I hate when people give me directions using stores and the color of the house to the right as help. I want a complete address and names of the streets. I just love maps.

I can dimly recall how I came to think of Sunday as the beginning of the week. I was in a room. There was something on the wall with numbers on it. Oh wait, there are words too. There are seven columns and the word over the first one from the left was "Sunday". Thank you for helping me recover this memory.

Around this country, the week days follow the liturgical names.
Monday is called "Segunda-Feira", segunda means second, feira means fair (like a market).
Tuesday is called "Terça-Feira", terça means third, feira is the same...
Wednesday is called "Quarta-Feira", quarta means forth...
Thursday is called "Quinta-Feira", quinta means fifth....
Friday is called "Sexta-Feira", sexta means sixth.
Saturday is Sábado
Sunday is Domingo.
So you see... we know right off the bat that Monday is the second day.
Also, as a bonus, we don't need to memorize many names for days!
But find it difficult to remember all your pagan day names.

Monday being the first day seems more logical to me.

The term "weekend" typically refers to Saturday and Sunday. That would make Monday the week beginning.

Originally, you only got one day out of every seven for rest.
That day was... Saturday? Sabath?
Sunday would then be the first day of the week.
At least, that's how "they" taught me...

I don't know the rules to football, baseball, hockey, or soccer. I hated those games growing up.
Oh, and basketball, whether it be regular basketball or women's basketball.

Your a maze person aren't you? I remember having to drive with a map only matter of fact I still have my road atlas.. I prefer Siri.
