wow that sounds too politically minded for my tastes... any marxist philosophy references?

Marxism itself has been described as a philosophy and Marx as a moral philosopher. Eg among many other things, Marx argues capitalism is innately immoral. My own position is that no political ideology of which I'm aware can be isolated from philosophy or moral sensibilities.
I must admit I have read very little on political philosophy, although I took a fairly solid Marxist line in some of the anthropology papers I wrote at university.

"Political Philosophy",edited by Anthony Quinton is worth a glance. (my copy: Oxford University press,1968)
Chapter headings include:
"Are there natural rights?", " Two Concepts of liberty", "Two Concepts of Democracy" and "Justice and the common good"

Capital was definately far too political for me, but I muddled through it. I prefered "Materialist Conception of the communist manifesto" as far as Marx goes.
I do like hollbauch though, I'm currently half way through "the system of nature" good stuff.
Ok so here are some refined questions for anyone please
1- Could we act in any way against our consciousness with our conscious mind
2- Accepting that things have a definition and a connotation, could any thing not have a value denoted by it's connotation or an intrinsic value?
3- Do you believe in fate and why?
4- Do you believe in free will and why?
5- Do you believe in luck and why?

1 yes.. You can do somthing out of character.. example Fallout3 (video game) you can play it any way you want i always play as if im the person the first time...then I play the same game doing Evil or opposite that I would normally do just to see the outcome. Im sure you could do the same with life... but who wants to risk jail.
2 yea ... The bible.... (ok i know cheep shot ..still funny)
3&4 dont matter
5 Luck is just random events .... if you flip a quarter and usually heads and tails will be about even .... this could represent a normal day some times you may get mor heads or more tails this could be thought of as a lucky or unlucky day due to the quality of events (of being good or bad )
Did I make a good point? thumbs up I cant help it I'm a Kudos whore. P.S. Jesus is a MYTH.

5- Then why classify it as luck and instead call it random causality or are you equating the 2.
2- Joke aside I assume you have no other points?
1- But factoring in reality and the laws of consequence I don't see how you could do something against your nature (which is you character, which resides in the conscience). Lots of things apply when there are no consequeences, which is revealing of the deeper nature of self, but I don't see practical application in reality for this.
Also on a side note, good sources for reading for anyone interested.. I know it should be in book section but it related to the posts here

Actually... @ the first one: I really cannot play an evil character... I've tried, but I haven't yet been able to make myself to do it :S It ruins the fun for me I guess I'll never get those achievements
Of course, that is not to say you cannot do something out of character I blew up megaton once... but I loaded my last save very quickly afterward :S I was too interested after reading that Moira Brown (sp?) turns into a ghoul to not check it out

I'm a gamer too, but let's try and stick to applicable reality now please.

What's interesting is that the same applies in real life. Oh if only real life had a save function
Hell... I could really do with a 'character modification' device right now :S Where does that manual get off to when you need it?

But the game is applicable to reality. Even though it is just a game I dont like to play "evil" toons. But that dont mean I cant do it. You can do anything you may not like it but you can do it.. It may go against every grain of your being but you can do anything. For instance for most people self mutilation is out of the question but if your put in a situation that it is somthing you have to do, you can... lets say your foot is stuck in a bear trap and your child is hanging on for dear life getting ready to fall to his or her death... you could find the inner strength to amputate your own foot to get out of the trap to save your loved one.
It is completely out of my character to walk up and randomly punch someone in the head. Dose this mean I couldent do it.. no .. just means I wont do it... could I ? yes... will I .. NO
