I'll bet the sacrifices to Inca gods and the priests who prepared them said similar things. It sounds even more weird coming out of your mouth in this day and age.

If you think you can avoid suffering and death in life you're free to try, you can either do all of that it with God or do it alone.

It's not all fluffy bunnies and rainbows you have to address the reality of the human condition/life as it is but within the spiritual context of spiritual salvation. Whats your objection to that?
Objection? No, I'm merely observing that your charming little death cult has taken the execution if its mythological hero to the point of fetishization.
Feel free. It's more than a little macabre to those of us on the outside though.

Fun fact: saying "you need Jesus," around fifty poorly sized images of your messiah figure, is not a rational argument. It's not even an argument at all, and frankly, that's all you seem to do. Is it any wonder I reject it? Wouldn't you do the same if a muslim kept butting into a real conversation to talk about how much we need to see the light of Allah?

Christianity would be a life cult, atheism is more about the death seeing as according to you that's the absolute end of everything for everyone. Not an end you would experience but still. I think you're mistaken on this point even if it's not something I can actually know.

Had Jesus just died and that was that and nothing else happened afterwards then his followers would have melted away, it not like Jesus had started much of a movement within his own life time. Atheists are keen to point out that nothing contemporary was written about him at all. Its what happened after that point that people undoubtedly experienced that set the movement going. You can question what it was exactly that people experienced but that's where it really got started not a mythologized death, it was a fairly humiliating death standard for any typical criminal of the time.

It would be macabre from the atheist perspective as it's just some crazy guy who happened to be quite nice being executed and then ceasing exist or whatever.

You know what I find disturbing about this. It's the fact that the bible gets a fucking halo!
I mean I can see the whole picture of the suffering Christ thing from the believers viewpoint. But when did the bible get deified? It is, at best, a report of stuff that happened. It's not special of itself.
I think bible worship is dangerously close to apostasy.

Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. Wrong. There is no evidence to support it is anything more than a fictitious story about a Jew nailed to some wood.

I agree but I never said "you need Jesus" as an argument for Gods existence I tend to focus on the philosophical, moral and cosmological arguments that can apply to many religions.

You must be reading some kind of different post in your mind to the ones I actually make then. It's fairly rare that I say anything about Jesus specifically at all.

Allah is just the Arabic word for God so I would agree with them. I don't agree about needing Mohammed as the ultimate final word of God though.

Ah, so you didn't have a post about two pages back that ended with the sentence "you need some of this," followed by a picture of Jesus?
Moreover, what I'm saying is that the arguments for god that you present are rather thin on the ground, more often than not replaced by simply describing some aspect of what your religion is about.
That's not evidence. It's a story you're telling.

And here we see a standard christian obfuscation, known as selective focus. Here' Sword has chosen to focus on the word "Jesus" in my above post, rather than responding to the sentiment behind it.
Instead of wasting my time repeating myself, I'll instead just remind you that you know what I mean.

And if a muslim came here and kept describing various facets of islamic belief without ever demonstrating or even attempting to provide evidence for them, would you find that convincing?
