I wonder if fucking jesus wrote this part?
Quote:Clause 3. Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons.

When it comes to Tom Delay, I honestly don't know if he's as stupid and crazy as he comes off or if he's just a supremely cynical panderer. The same goes for David Barton. Does he really believe his own bullshit, or is he just exploiting a lucrative niche by telling conservative Christians what they want to hear?

Poe's law . . .
These people often prey upon the failure of social intelligence and the presence of severe gullibility, easily exploiting and manipulating those who are always ready to hear what they want to hear. Desire for truths are never more prevalent than when those truths are predicated upon the incredulous.
If you are prepared to believe unlikely propositions that are unsupported by evidence, it isn't an absurd notion to consider that you will believe anything that allows you to feel comfortable in your fabricated microcosm.
In other words, everyone involved is as dumb as a fucking rock.

Oh I don't know. A civilisation moves into an area, commits genocide on the indigenous population, then claims that God told them to do it so it's OK.
Later the civilisation grows and becomes somewhat more civilised. A new document is penned which whilst claiming to be merely an extension of base principles, would have actually completely condemned and forbidden the circumstances and actions which formed the nation.

Politics to my view, like business, is based on the principle of "what works, works." It's not concerned with ideologies and feelings so much as just finding the vein of human nature they can mine for all the political gold they can mine from it. And I guess I don't have a problem with this. Gullible people deserve representation as much as skeptical people do. The key is to remain involved, and not let the voices of the gullible drown out those of the skeptical.

Quote:Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) this week warned Americans to remember that God “wrote the Constitution” based on the Bible.
During an appearance on John Hagee Ministries’ Global Evangelism Television (GETV) network on Wednesday, host Matt Hagee asked the Texas Republican where the country had gone wrong.
“I think we got off the track when we allowed our government to become a secular government,” DeLay explained. “When we stopped realizing that God created this nation, that he wrote the Constitution, that it’s based on biblical principles.”
I'm sure the dickheads in Texas eat this shit up, though.

It is an extremely coveted award.
Funnily enough, mostly by people who shouldn't covet.

Actually slaves didn't count as any percentage. They had zero rights. The South had a large slave population but a rather small white population in comparison to the North. So they allowed the Southerners to count their slaves in order to boost the number of their State Representatives in Congress.
Guys like DeLay may want to return to that system by eliminating voting rights for blacks but still count them as part of the populaton for House seats.
It always pay to understand what people are saying when they mouth off about returning to the past.

That article was written so that the federal government would have its own source of revenue. Under the previous Articles of Confederation the federal government had to depend upon the States to give it money.

Acutally, the wholesale genocide of the Native Americans that was a result of American colonization lasted well over one hundred years after the constitution was implemented.
What they really meant was "all white, non-Irish men of European descent are created equal."

Yeah...but...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trail_of_Tears
Quote:The Trail of Tears is a name given to the ethnic cleansing and forced relocation of Native American nations from southeastern parts of the United States following the Indian Removal Act of 1830. The removal included many members of the Cherokee, Muscogee (Creek), Seminole, Chickasaw, and Choctaw nations, among others in the United States, from their homelands to Indian Territory in eastern sections of the present-day state of Oklahoma. The phrase originated from a description of the removal of the Choctaw Nation in 1831.[1]
Many Native Americans suffered from exposure, disease and starvation on the route to their destinations. Many died, including 2,000-6,000 of 16,542 relocated Cherokee.[2][3][4] European Americans and African American freedmen and slaves also participated in the Chickasaw, Choctaw, Muscogee Creek and Seminole forced relocations.
40 years after the constitution we were just moving into high gear. Of course, the blacks were still slaves and the women may as well have been. A close study of American history is eye-opening.
