Notice that the woman 'accepts' the court's sentence, not because what she did was wrong, but "because it is against the law." Without a doubt, they would have done this again. And they would have plenty of chances, seeing as they have SEVEN other children.
They were sentenced to 10 years probation for the first death. They could conceivably be out of prison and petitioning for custody of those remaining children in less than four years. And they don't think they did anything wrong.
Sickening, isn't it? No way should they ever get custody of any remaining kids or be allowed to have more.
But then, I don't think they should be allowed out of jail.

I don't understand how they can have this many kids if they don't take proper care of them. Did they just recently get converted to this church that's anti medicine?

Probably also believers who think they should have as many kids as possible.

Oh yeah, take all responsibility away. Have as many kids as the lord gifts you with, and hope he also gives you the means to care for them all. Above all else, the lord giveth, and the lord taketh away. In some parts we just call that irresponsibility at the very least, and criminal negligence as worst.
I'm just not sure how the first few survived this long, except that neighbors may have slipped in some sudaphed or nyquil when the parents weren't looking. Maybe a babysitter actually tended to them properly when they were sick.

Well, they didn't eat the kid so that's something. It sounds like they were just following the Repub health care plan. The Repubs claim that access to modern medicine is evil and they want to repeal it. So this could become more common in the future as the Repubs continue to brainwash the nitwits.

Here's some more bad for you all. Because one can never have enough bad.

The "pastor" is surely the villain on this piece. Hope his dick rots off. Alice, see to it please.
Although I can agree the pastor playing a role here, I have no empathy for this cunt. I might have had some after the first episode, maybe, if she saw the light and changed her ways, but not after two...fuck her.

What would have happened if instead of praying the parents had taken the child to a homeopathist, because they thought a homeopathist was just as effective as a real doctor?
Is this any different to parents who refuse to vaccinate their kids, which then go on to die from said disease years later?
I think its got to be down to education. This pastor is an evil scumbag IMHO, but he and the parents are only following the same methodology as many of the Christians on here. Evidence doesn't matter, it's all down to faith. Faith is greater than scientific evidence. Etc etc. However thanks to the religious indocrination they have no clue as to whether to believe the pastor or the medical community. This is going on in Africa as well, where the local religious leaders are telling people not to take vaccinations because they are evil. The local population know almost nothing of science, but this is not their fault.
If you are in that much of a religiously controlled community, the thoughts of the pastor are more important than what science says. We can see this is true in terms of belief in evolution, so why should it be different when it comes to medicine?
Would requiring a basic licence to have children be a good idea? It amazes me in this country you can be entrusted with the sole responsibility of raising a child at younger age than you can be entrusted with driving a car, and with fewer tests.

If the couple believed in Blackbeard's Ghost, and allowed their imaginary relationship with him to decide their child care decisions, the couple would rightly be trucked to the loony bin and their kids put in foster care post haste. Yet, because their imaginary friend of choice is a spook called the "holy ghost," our society only barely registers the repulsion, with many supporting the parents.
