Y'know, I keep hearing that one line from anti-vaxers: "That disease was on its way out anyway." That's how they respond whenever someone points out that X disease virtually disappeared after a vaccine for it was introduced. I know the line 'correlation does not mean causation,' but in this case, I think the correlation might just mean causation. Specifically, the disease wasn't on its way out until a vaccine came along and kicked it the fuck out. I mean, smallpox was still a serious enough concern that people were really scared of it when Edward Jenner basically pioneered the idea of vaccines. After he got done with it, the disease was just a memory of a less rational time.

As for people being hurt or killed with vaccines, I haven't seen any stats on that, yet. I wouldn't be surprised if it killed someone; I mean, after all, there's enough biological diversity that there are people out there who are alergic to water. But I'd be more than willin to bet that the number of people who have died from vaccines is much MUCH lower than the number of people who have died from not getting a vaccine.

"Medication" is not synonymous with "vaccine" - a few medications have been known to kill people, and then they've been taken off the market. Vaccines have not been known to kill people, so they are still in use.

For those of you who may be too thick to understand what I'm saying, no, people probably have gotten sick and died from medication and/or vaccines. But those numbers are almost certainly very small compared to the number of people who have died because we didn't have medication or vaccines. I mean, think about it: in 2012, 1.6 million people died from AIDS. If we had a vaccine for it or a medication that could cure it, I would have gladly given it to them, even if 1,000 or so people died.
