Just to clarify my meaning, I'm not really talking about Christians being aggressive or insulting. I'm talking about Christians expressing fondness for genocide, slavery and all the other things that make your religion reprehensible. There are a lot of Christians who are ignorant of these things, and/or are only casual adherents to the whole thing who focus on the not-so-reprehensible parts.

Unfortunately...idiots and assholes occupy all areas of society! Personally, I don't let them get away with anything in my presence. I've taken an active role in cleaning-up the things I can in the church. And unfortunately, I've met a lot of "troubled" people in the church! Its a magnet for them. Obviously! Right? But, what do you do? Try to help them, rather than push them out. And I've witnessed a few winners in my time. But again...what do you do? Sometimes its like having a severely retarded sibling. You carefully, take him around with you.... and hope he doesn't embarrass, or worse attack someone! It comes with the territory. And there is nothing we can do but, be vigilant, pray and trust in God.

Imagine if the news was reporting on a black hole that is getting dangerously close to our solar system. Imagine if instead of discussing this with some one like Stephen Hawkin, Neil de-grasse Tyson, or Lawrence Krauss, they got some kind of medical doctor to appear on the show. People would be like: WTF is going on? Every time you see that happening you should contact the network and complain. Put them on speed dial. So-called believers are more atheistic than atheists. All anyone has to do to prove that is to ask a believer to do some of the things that Christianity tells them that they should do. If they are polite they will soon tell you to go to hell. If they are not polite they will tell you to do something else in a very angry tone of voice. RE: Are pastors and preists actually qualified?

I think that her point, and I actually agree, is that religious people are hardly the only non-experts called on by the media to comment on subjects they know nothing about. That the problem is with the media, and not with the priests etc. Honestly if I were called on to give my opinion on television about something that I didn't know that much about, I'd probably go. You can't blame the priests but the people who put them on.
I guess they are qualified in reading scripture, then again anyone can do that.
