No kidding.
I could probably stand to lose 10 pounds, but I'm not that fussed over it until I have to start buying bigger cloths - that's unacceptable. I call that 10 pounds my vanity weight.

I was once at the weight I was supposed to be at for my height.
I looked like an Auschwitz victim.
Now my goal is about 20lbs more than that.

Sounds like something went very wrong apparently. Did you forget to convert to metric???
But kidding aside, these ideal weight formulas are just complete bull for some people.

What I've learned so far disturbs me greatly. People are so, so dumb.
I know people who worry about their weight, but don't do anything to change their destructive/unhealthy lifestyles! It's like they never bothered learning nutrition and they don't want to learn it now.
This is what I've learned: people are extremely ignorant. In fact they're so unaware that they try "fad diets" with no concept as to why it would or wouldn't work. They say that they want to lose weight - but don't even bother to make the easy small changes to their eating habits that would guarantee it!!
Like true, I don't really understand how my car engine works and that's why I let a mechanic take care of it - but we're talking about our bodies, how do people not take proper care of their own bodies???
So seriously, how is it that people are so, so dumb??
The important thing is that you've found yet another way to feel superior to others.

Calorie necessity cannot be generalized. Just putting thatvout there.
Aractus, im not sure how long it took me to get to be so obese. A ball park figure would be maybe five or six years.
People are obese for a wide array of reasons. Although i agree that being fat is very unhealthy and can limit your potential lifespan, called someone stupid for being fat is like calling someone stupid for being a Christian. While i would recommend that anyone who is either of those things begin taking steps to improve their life, i understand that changing your lifestyle is very difficult. Some overweight people are literally addicted to eating just like some Christians are literally addicted to the sense of euphoria that they get from praying.
Change is difficult, and so if somone is overweight, or if someone is a Christian, id offer them advice on how to start changing, but i can't expect them to actually listen.
Some people say that they are too apathetic to change the way that they're living. For these people, there is little you can do for them but support them if they ever decide to change.
Aractus, if you ever decide it's time to do away with your delusional god, im here for you

I'm the opposite. I am about 7 kilos less than I should be according to the chart but if I got to that weight I'd look like a rhino.
Light bones I guess....

If this was a thread about weight loss, I'd say well done for losing 165 lbs. But as a thread on weight gain I'd remind you that it's a slow, long and drawn-out process - it took you 5 or 6 years to gain the weight you lost in just 2 years. You probably have around 80lbs or so to go, so that's another year of weight loss, say 3 years in total.
So what I think is that because weight gain is so slow, when compared to weight loss, many people simply do not recognize it. And that makes it very easy to ignore. In fact friends of mine have fattened up to the point of obesity - I ask them their weight they say "oh I think it's 120kg", then they step on the scales and "what? I've gained weight!" completely unaware they'd put on another 5 or 10 kilos.

It's the old frog in the pot adage. Frog jumps into a pot of cold water, and the heat goes from a simmer to high, frog staying put the whole time. Not until the water is boiling and he is burning, does he finally jump out.
I've been this way in relationships. lol
Sometimes we will only make a life change if doing nothing becomes more painful than changing.
