(This post was last modified: March 20, 2014 at 9:01 am by *Deidre*.)
Something I've observed over the years during my time as a "practicing" Christian, is that people who convert as adults, have tremendous zeal for witnessing. More so than life long Christians who were raised in the faith. Hard to really explain unless you've observed it a lot, and I have. Friends of mine who converted to Christianity during adulthood feel this need to "save souls" and so on.
It can come across as a little strange and intrusive if you haven't been around such people. When I was a Christian, I remember one of my friends just over the top with "correcting" me and chastising me. It's not uncommon in adult converts to see that type of almost intrusive behavior.
Think that's important to note in case you ever encounter something similar. Could have been other motives idk but I think that was the driver of it.
If there is a god, why does he need mere mortals to round up the troops? lol
I'm glad I left that confusing world behind.

Not to get too deep into the behind the scenes stuff, but calling out Deidre was an ill advised move, and when his line of questioning drifted into rapey territory, we decided we needed to make a move. None of this was Deidre's doing, she had nothing to do with our decision, but once the full scope of the situation was laid out for us, it was clear Disc had to go.

Yeah, that's the gung-ho stage. People that grow up in the faith are way past that stage by the time they're old enough to be able to bother random strangers.

All new adult converts generally tend to be fanatics, regardless of the religion or cult.

Not true. That's a position of ignorance.
Care to tell me why? Unless I'm mistaken when Deidre said "fully embrace" she was referring to all aspects of evolution which include human evolution, which is in direct opposition to Christian creation stories.

I've noticed this too. It's like they feel so good about being "born again" that they think that everyone else is crazy for not doing it, too. Maybe it's that high they get for thinking that they're now a very special "saved" person or something.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

Its because if they can get someone else to buy into it their delusion doesn't seem so insane.

I'm telling you, we can't take Deidre anywhere.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
