Second-to-last paragraph for me, KUSA. Living in Detroit and Tucson has taught me that a person, if they are capable, should be ready for anything. I shoot expert on the M9, as the beretta has always been my handgun of choice. It's helpful that it's my issued weapon in the Air Force as well.

The United States isn't ready for that shift. Not by a long shot (pardon the pun).

Oh. This might not be the right thread for this. Sorry!
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Chas pretty much summed it up for us.
So for people living in small houses or apartment complexes, would there be a need for rifles of any kind?
Also, when there are bans on certain types of weaponry, I'm all for grandfather clauses. I'm guessing the implementation of a registry would be the antithesis of that, right?
I'm still waiting on the reason to have a registry.

Guys, I don't think any of those are safe in an apartment; drywall won't do shit to stop those rounds - they won't fragment. Most defensive rounds will go right through multiple interior walls.
You have to use actual frangible bullets.

I think we covered the registry well enough. Letting strangers know what's in your home is a bad side effect of such a database.

I certainly agree with that. But what I am still trying to find out is what reason do people have for proposing a national registry?
To what purpose? To accomplish what?

Those questions are precisely why I started posting in this thread. I still don't know, and no one has brought up any good reasons to date.
