It's hard to say. His recent predecessor lowered the bar so much that almost anyone following him would look smart and competent.

I like the fact that he is not an idiot, similar to what was mentioned before. Here are some specifics that I don't like:

- Took too long getting us out of Iraq and Afghanistan.
- Continued use of drones is deplorable.
- I have no confidence that we aren't still torturing people.
- He has yet to honor his promise of transparency.
- ACA is perhaps a start and is 'something', but it does nothing to actually reduce healthcare costs.
- Pissed away a great opportunity to quickly change international relations. Depsite not openly using the word 'exceptionalism', his administration continues to shrug off concerns where other nations are held to account. Think drones.
- Continues corporate welfare.
- The Dodd-Frank Act is to financial reform what the TSA is to airport security.
- Instead of working with Congress to repeal portions of the Patriot Act early in his first term, his administration is set on further expanding surveillance. The defiance and arrogance with which they dismiss criticism is disheartening.

I guess that's enough.

The Afghanistan drawdown is underway.

He's not trying to isolate Russia, nor should he. The revocation of visas and that sort of crap is simply grandstanding. There's little to be done about Crimea; an invasion of Ukraine would be another matter. Everyone is peacocking right now. Exhibit 'A' is Yanukovych's declaration today. People are fucking idiots if his remarks weren't approved by Putin.

I think Obama is handling the situation appropriately. The chickenhawk GOP mouthpieces are lunatics.
