Well, every single employee is already on federal aid, so I doubt we'd really notice a difference.
If the companies can't pay their employees enough to live, working full time, they shouldn't be in buisiness.
The economic hit a lot of rural and other areas would take is due to Walmart's buisiness practices: running small buisiness into the ground, so there's no alternative for many to shopping or working there.
It's a measure of how badly they screwed up the economy of an area, and how deplorable their buisiness practices are.
People have more goods in the Walmart Era then they did in the Mom and Pop era.
I just bought some 60 watt equivalent LED lightbulbs at 5.88 each at Walmart. At a Mom and Pop shop they would be at least twice that price.

In all honesty, I'd rather pay some extra money for quality products that likely keep someone in my own country employed than some cheap product that will send money to China.

Not sure about Wal*Mart but I know polygamous FLDS families do this. Except that the women don't work, they just sign up for welfare calling themselves single mothers.

What is the difference between paying some extra money to keep white people who live in your neighborhood employed instead of blacks who live in the next neighborhood over and the statement you just made?
You can equivocate and say you are discriminating on based on a persons citizenship or membership in a community and not the color of their skin.....but your discrimination has the exact same effect as if you were discriminating because of their skin color.

So the only counter you have to my statement is a not-so-subtle accusation of racism.
Wow.
How sad.

I'm not trying to insult you. I'm trying to point out that a "Buy American" attitude is effectively racism.

I'm not trying to insult you. You probably didn't even know you were being racist. I'm trying to point out that a "Buy American" attitude is effectively racism.
I wasn't being racist and the claim that I was is a strawman. It's an attempt to make me back away from my sytatement by putting a claim of racism where it doesn't belong.

Its not a strawman because you weren't making an argument. You rendered an opinion. I then argued that your opinion is effectively a racist one.

As opposed to, say, a nationalist one?
