Theist argument against the Church scandals.

A common argument i see is that the numbers of priests sexually assaulting kids pales in comparison of the number of teachers, doctors or even parents that did the very same kind of acts. So these theists say that the attacks on the Church are not justified because what they did was not worse than what the general population did.

I argued that the others' leadership didn't try to hide the scandals however i don't have the evidence supporting that claim, can anyone help ?

The church claims to be a source of morality, especially the Catholic church.

Just saying teachers, parents and doctors did the same does not make what the priests did any less scandalous.

The evidence of them not covering it up is the stories being brought into the public eye, something that did not happen with the most the priest who raped 200 deaf kids until recently, I doubt many teachers, parents or doctors have raped upwards of 200 kids.

The attack against the church is because it has been institutionalized. The church actively covers up its actions.

Teachers, doctors, and parents don't usually have the resources, or organization, of the church. The attacks on the church are aimed at the church knowingly covering these actions up... not that these actions occur.

Even if those allegations about teachers and doctors were true ( in the same proportion as priests did) and that they tried to hide it, which is as far as I know complete bullshit, even then that argument would be a "tu quoque" fallacy.
