Sorry for mixing up the names. A fetus and a tire are not on the same level. One is currently growing into a fully formed human. The other is not currently growing into a car.

Human dna does not equal human being. A human arm doesn't equal a human being, despite having human dna.

No no no. I tire alone is just a tire. A fetus alone is just a fetus. A fetus on its own cannot grow into anything.

The first is unfertilized Egg, in the same way that no sperm fertilized an embryo.

The second is a seed, just as the fathers sperm is a seed, it has not been planted it still contains the genetics and ability for life, but lacks the soil just as the sperm needs the embryo

Your right the fourth is not life either, it is simply the egg, just as the first it has not been fertilized and given 'life' until then it is like the soil without a seed, the egg without the cock.

Thoughts?

I have always been pro-life. My understanding is that no matter what the circumstances surrounding the pregnancy, bad or good, rape or not. That child that innocent baby had nothing to do with it. They are without blame, why place the blame of a rapist on a baby, wasn't that childs fault.

Why should it suffer?

There is always adoption. Don't want it, give it to someone who cannot have a child, who's spent a fortune on having kids without success.

As a Buddhist, (moderately monastic) the view is that life begins at conception and all life is valuable.

My dear kid brother, would not be here had his 12 year old mother aborted him. She had him, gave him up for adoption.

In doing so my mother and I have had the pleasure of having him in our lives (my adopted family could not have children)

Fuck, I do enough arguing with anti-choicers over at HuffPost.

I'll state it simply:

1. Don't want an abortion, don't have one.
2. Men can have an opinion on the matter, but since the woman is the one who carries it, it's ultimately her choice.

Seriously KUSA. You know what I think about people who use pictures like that as arguments against abortion? I think you're fucking assholes. I could just as easily post a picture of the little 4 month old girl whose mom got her boyfriend to fuck her to death, or the little 8 month old boy who sat in his own shit for days until he died of infection while his parents were playing video games, or babies who starve to death while their parents are off buy drugs with the formula vouchers. I could post pictures of them as an argument for abortion, but I'm not a fucking asshole.

Seeing that picture bothers us because fetuses look like babies. Somewhat deformed under developed, but they do look like babies. You want to know the difference. An aborted fetus before 24 weeks doesn't suffer for one second. An aborted fetus never knows pain. An unwanted baby knows pain. Maybe not to the extremes of the horror cases that I mentioned above, but unwanted babies know suffering. Babies whose parents cannot afford to feed them, babies whose parents resent them because they feel like their dreams are ruined, babies whose parents are just incapable of loving children. These are people they feel pain.

I think the contention is that a fetus without a womb and no outside help generally doesn't have a lot of opportunity to grow, being that it's kinda dead. That's not a very controversial opinion, I would have thought; I mean, there's a reason the anti-choicers want women to carry fetuses to term, rather than just letting the fetus be extracted to hang out on its own...

The third picture is a silkworm and its cocoon, which as the name implies, we use to make silk. It also demonstrates that the point of the image is not what you think it is; what it's saying is that some things go through a transition from one thing to another thing, like an acorn to a tree, or an egg to a chicken, and that treating the initial form as identical to the later one is absurd.

They are different things, with different capabilities and attributes, and should be treated as such.
