The interesting thing is that Iranian women were a lot "freer" in the 1960s. Now they are in a concentration camp. Those on the Iraqi border go to Iraq to party. From my local viewpoint in the US the women who wear burkas the most are black African muslims. They must think that they are Arabs. The Syrians tossed their burkas in the trash can, which is why the Saudis are pissed at them and are trying to get rid of Assad. 
Most religions oppress women. The Abrahamic Religions place men over women. So, religions is terrible for women.

As I said before, women are always the first converts to the new con man's religious line of BS. Without their support it would never get off the ground. But they always end up on the short end of the stick, oppressed and condemned to hell in the scheme of things.
