EvF - I did know that, and a lot of my followers on twitter seemed to think I was "betraying the atheist / science movement" somehow. I had to remind people that I'm not a one-policy voter. I vote for the people I think would (a) best lead my constituency, and (b) best lead the country. In both cases, that happens to be the Conservatives.

It seems inevitable that if the Tories and the Lib Dems can come to some sort of agreement and therefore Labour have no chance of forming a Government that Gordon Brown will have to resign.

I'm wondering that if he does resign as PM would he also resign as Labour leader because I believe he is on record as saying that if he lost the election it was his intention to stay as leader.

Considering this, how long do you think he would last as the the leader of what would in all reality be the 'third' party?

Brown remaining leader would make absolutely no sense. He took over the party which had lost seats in the previous election, and proceeded to lose even more (and their majority) in this one. Labour clearly haven't worked under Gordon Brown, and for them to gain back their seats, they need someone new.

So, in conclusion, as a supporter of the right, I think Gordon Brown should remain leader of the party...hopefully for very many years to come...
