Infibulation ??

Making it so you can't have kids, or you don't produce any/as much testosterone or estrogen. Though since you kind of need those to finish developing into an adult, they can obviously have negative effects.

Really we should focus on bringing their mental state up to where they can make wise decisions. Telling teenagers that condoms don't work won't convince them to not have sex. It will just convince them to not use condoms when they have sex.

When my older daughter turned fifteen, I bought her a box of condoms and told her to carry one in her purse. Now that my younger daughter will be turning fifteen, she's inheriting the box her bjg sister never used (probably should buy her some new ones, just in case). I've been completely, totally, embarrassingly (for them) open with them about sex and what I expect from them (stay safe, don't get pregnant, don't be afraid to tell me if you do).

We've never had a problems though many of their church raised friends have.

Good for you! I'll try to remember this when I have kids. I'd still check the expiration date to be safe, but the condoms I got from volunteering at a needle exchange program back in 2009 will expire next year and I've kept them in room temperature storage.

Why the heck is this in the "Philosophy" section when there's a perfectly good "Religion" section literally right above it?

Says it all, really.

Awesome. Now that is responsible parenting.

My mother was, and still is, embarrassed whenever there is a discussion about sex. I'm sure she thinks her little girl - now pushing 30 - is still a virgin.

My father had no such problems and we discussed it quite a bit when I was in my mid-to-late teens.

My mom was the same way. My dad on the other hand gave worthless advice 'cause it was all horndog advice like "Never turn down a piece of ass, it might be the best you ever missed." Of course, at fifteen it all sounded like sage advice to me.

You made the right decision, you're a great dad. I will do the same with my children when I have them, boys and girls. And yes I will be careful to warn my daughter about some naughty boys who only like banging and dumping, just in case Tongue

I'll also be speaking in non-descript terms about sex so as not to assume heternormativity.

Sure but if my child was gay I'd like to know first hand to show my support.
