I think belief about who we are does play a role to who we are. That's not to say you can think anything of yourself and you would be that, but you are partially made by what you believe about yourself.

You are the first person to actually agree with me. RE: Why people who are religious are better and more special

Fuck what opinions other people have of you. It is about finding your own path, empowerment, and strength in life and not giving a fuck about what others think (and, of course, helping others only if you wish and not caring about what others think if you instead choose not to help others and instead focus on yourself).(August 16, 2014 at 5:40 pm)Mozart Link Wrote: So you at least partially agree with what I said there? I think people can have a high regard of themselves whether or not they believe in God or not. You can believe we humans are special regardless of beliefs in god(s) or not. You can also believe you are unique and cannot be replaced and are special in that sense.
You can think high of your attitude in life whether or not god(s) exist or not. An Atheist can think more highly of themselves then a Theist and vice versa. I agree with this, whatever you imagine yourself to be, that is who you are, unless of course you need the approval of others. So, if I imagine that my 130 IQ is actually a 180, it will be? Really? YAY! You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
Hitler thought he was special.
It's not immoral to eat meat, abort a fetus or love someone of the same sex...I think that about covers it

I have enough things to hate Hitler for without needing to add that he was a bit vain. And because we have introduced the Nazis I believe the law is the thread should now die. You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid. Tinkety Tonk and down with the Nazis. |
