does evil exist?

Quite frankly I see morality as a joke, so I'm going to say no. Then again I'm a nihilist, but I do see the benefits of the preference of logically good deeds.

All of those seem pretty damn gracious to me. I would hardly call you evil for any of that

Evil is created by man. So is good. The fact that some things are good in one place but that same thing is bad in another pretty makes morals completely useless when looking at the entire human race.

Yes it does.It is a word which we created after all. And like every word it represents some actions and emotions of ours. But, if you're asking some evil being provoke us to do evil things, well thats tricky.. it could be. there might be someone messing with us with his/her/?? great power and we may even call him/her/?? god.

Short answer is no, evil does not exist.

Just people being people.....'evil' is a qualitative term and judgment value human society has applied to actions of individuals and groups that would appear to be in contrast with the acceptable "norms" of humanity as a whole.
The term as I understand it is loosing is power to WOW and frighten people.

Now, this is an interesting one. As an atheist, I will never say that evil is the devil persuading you to doing bad things, or giving into temptation or sin. This argument is also related to a side issue, which is 'Is there such a thing as free will?', which, of course, has been debated by philosophers but centuries. If there isn't, can an 'evil' person help being 'evil'? Hitler thought what he was doing was for the best... so is that evil?

I don't believe that there's such a thing as evil, because everything that someone does is what they think is best, even if they're deply misguided.

best for themselves or their own "group". big difference.
Evil is the term used to separate your "group" from the others, from what you absolutely reject. It is therefore relative to who use it.

I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that it's about groups. At the end of the day each person is an individual and makes decisions based ultimately on what it means to them.
