That Day will come as a trap on all the world
RE: That Day will come as a trap on all the world
Chad, your response reflects a basic view that negates the necessity of Redemption.
Satan never saw the severe side of God. He and those angels that followed him thought God was a pushover and Lucifer said in his heart (paraphrase) I am going to boot God off his throne and take over.
Talk about no cure for stupid.
He is described as king over all the proud- the most prideful of all.
Because of his beauty (which was created in him by God- dumb, real dumb) his heart was lifted up in pride. Pride blinds oneself to their real condition. An ultimate LIE.

Losty, you are a delightful person. Honest and childlike.
Those 2 attributes are commended by God. You do have an enemy though.

Fucking Minimalist and his end-of-days prophecies. If we've told him once, we've told him a thousand times!!!
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

So, prof, not going to take me up on my offer?

Unsurprised I am.

I accept full responsibility for my responses after that, but I think it is only fair to SHARE the blame for this on
(you know who) - he provoked me.

How about it? I am not asking for mercy- just fairness.....

Was the above a "Poe" post?
Please don't tell me I failed again.
It would remind me of those long past days in the Confessional, saying,
"Father bless me for I have sinned".
I guess the deal was - pile up the sins so the blessings reach to the sky?

Define fair. Thinking

If your going by the biblical standards, you're fucked. Your beloved god often deemed it fair to punish all for the sins of a few.

Adam & Eve - we all got nailed because of them. The flood...even if all the adults were "corrupt", the babies and children were innocent. The firstborn of Egypt were all killed because of Pharaoh.

Not quite sure what you were expecting as a christian on an atheist forum? Given the above examples, I'd venture to say we are being quite fair. Big Grin

I don't feel that people need redemption from something they never lost, and could not achieve. I don't want to beg forgiveness for not being perfect, since I never had it or could achieve it on my own. What's the point of only calling perfection good? What's the point of setting an impossible standard, and punishing people for not meeting it?

So you're now assigning to me an imaginary enemy? Having your own enemies isn't good enough? Why must there be an enemy, prof? My life isn't so boring that I need to invent enemies. I have enough chaos without enemies. So while you're busy thinking of doomsday and inventing up bogeymen, I am dealing with real life. Trying to enjoy it while it lasts and make the best of it. I have no time for your negativity. You shouldn't give in to it either. If you'd just take a deep breath and let go of your fears, you could see that there's a lot of beauty in the world. All that "scary" stuff doesn't even matter.

Think of yourself as special.

Many people have imaginary friends.

Few have imaginary enemies.

Chad, the standard IS impossible.
The OT was partly given to show it. In the face of that- the price of Redemption was paid.
We are responsible to take it.
It is not my design, I am only a messenger.
I am not a game player, but at times I think it helps to look at life as a game in which the rules require you to find the rules, that is not contradictory.
It is the nature of God to hide things and the nature of kings to find them out.
Be a king.

Cindy, I purposely played for fairness because it is a universal facet of our lives and one we constantly base our position on.
One that is played against God all the time here.
I was partly playing and partly curious of your response to my silliness .

CD, no I am not taking you up on your offer.
You know I am a bit crazy, but I think you also know I am not stupid.

ShaMan, I agree with you completely. I have never said to follow religion.

Speak for yourself. The army of ninja penguins I used to destroy my enemies 10 years ago has come back seeking vengeance.

It always astounds me that rapture nuts assume they are going to be among the saved. What makes them think this?
