Beat a four-year-old bloody, by his own account. And apparently admitted that in his fury, the switch was wrapping around the child's leg and struck him in the testicles at least once. Even Peterson seemed to realize how extreme it was, promising to use "time outs" more often in place of corporal punishment. I hope the people who are ready to step in with "he was just disciplining his child" will keep that in mind.

Well, spare the switch and spoil the child, I gguess. Though I don't recall my legs bleeding when I got switched as a child. It stops being discipline and starts being abuse if you break the skin.

I was switched on several occasions as a child, and that's no goddamned excuse to do it to your own child -- that's all the more reason to stop it. I had no problem promising my son's mom that I would never spank with anything but my open hand.
