The only of topic conversation I'm engaged in is with you. This is my thread, where the topic is the constant ragging on new members who are unaware of the site definition of atheism, and what can positively be done to rectify that, do new members and old don't have to suffer it.
What are you contributing?
Let's see...
1. "Does that mean you can finally ban this jackass now?"
2. "Please go away and don't come back."
Looks like of topic flaming of another member right?

Oh and look, he's completely ignored what I said again
And don't give me that shit, this thread was made so you could score points against the mods, if you really wanted to improve the forum, you would leave it.

I'm replying directly to your statement that I don't engage in discussion, by pointing out your own total lack of engagement with the topic of this thread.
How is that ignoring what you've said?
If I reply to you, and name you in the reply, then that's me replying k? I might not be saying what you want to hear. That's all.
Go and be disingenuous elsewhere.

I've noticed that you risk less lately, Frodo. Obviously no one does that in a hostile environment. Or maybe you just feel you've said it all before, I feel that way some times.
As for the topic, I think the mods have a good point. Lots of newbies do come in assuming what atheists think and it does get tiresome. However, perhaps we could be less condescending about it. After all, everyone makes mistakes and just because we encounter that one a lot doesn't mean it isn't the first time for any particular new kid on the block. So perhaps what we, anyone of us, should do is prepare a stock response regarding assumptions/stereotypes -which we compose with the intention of being helpful. Then when yet another person shows up with an attitude about atheists we could just post our 'calm response' and leave it to them to process their emotions without getting entangled in them.

You are just completely evading the point made and just saying 'well you do it too'. You neither deny or confirm the accusation, you just ignore it and attack me instead.

Ditto.

The staff got more hostile. In the old days things were more open. The current staff don't allow it. Adrian was far more understanding, and would chat with me to find out what was really going on. He's the most open minded atheist i know. Well, you do pretty well yourself . I compromised to keep on as a member. I still have to ride that dangerous line, because I enjoy that. I like to push boundaries. It's kinda my mode of operating. Plus I'm slowly trying to be more positive, and better at communicating.
Yes the repetition is tedious. I really should think more before opening cans

Your point is well-taken, fr0d0 - things have changed a bit. Thing is, when we implemented the current Rule 1, it was in part to deal with boundary pushers (amongst other things). The other thing is your mode of interacting with many of us is pretty much indistinguishable from trolling. I think I get where you're coming from, though.
Point is, I guess, things change, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse - but our goal is to promote discussion and discourage things that detract from same. How that is best accomplished is a work in progress.
There's also the factor that the staff has changed - and as we are all individuals acting by committee, how things are interpreted is going to change somewhat. I and the other more senior staff try to encourage consistency and using past precedent as a guide.
