It's the ratio of the pitch vs the width of DNA whcih is 34 angstroms vs 23.7 angstroms. An angstroms is 0.1 nanometer.

ok, im going to use your own info:

Quote:The structure of DNA of all species comprises two helical chains each coiled round the same axis, and each with a pitch of 34 ångströms (3.4 nanometres) and a radius of 10 ångströms (1.0 nanometres).[6] According to another study, when measured in a particular solution, the DNA chain measured 22 to 26 ångströms wide (2.2 to 2.6 nanometres), and one nucleotide unit measured 3.3 Å (0.33 nm) long.[7]

Your 34 vs 21 is a measurement done from 1953. When you look at it more closely, things aren't that simple.

Where does it state that this is a ratio? these are clearly measurements...

You know how to make a ratio, right Huggy? You put one number on top of the other and shazaam! Ratio~

Look at the bold. Plus, I provided a better source. Here it is again for your convience.

The measurements say the ratio is 34/23.7 not 34/21. Do you retract your claim?
the 34 is the pitch and the 23.7 is the width, how is that a ratio? since you need to divide numbers to get a ratio. it's simple, explain what numbers you divided to get this equation.

Huggy, please look up ratio on Wikipedia (pay particular attention to how ratios are expressed) and then proceed to shut the fuck up, seriously.

are you trying to say 34/23.7 is a fraction?

A Rational Number is a real number that can be written as a simple fraction (i.e. as a ratio).

Your so incredibly stupid that you can't figure out what a ratio is? don't answer that, I was being rhetorical. A ratio is two numbers divided by each other. Those numbers do not have to be whole numbers.

exactly, and i've been asking you this whole time, what two numbers have you divided by each other to come up with your ratio?

Just answer that simple question, i only want to see two numbers in your next post.
