I fear HopOnPop's concisive analysis may be spot-on.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

LOL, yeah I'm really good at unplugging the toilets too! Dislodging stuck shit for people is what I do best.

The reason is because he rants about how he used to be a atheist that followed evolution, but when he opens his mouth it becomes obvious that he has no idea what atheists actually believe from the strawmans he puts up. I think he maybe just a unscrupulous athiest fleecing the flock.

Same for me. That's also the same BS line that Banana-man's trained monkey, Kirk Cameron, uses to break the ice when talking with atheists. The fact is, however, this kind of claim only wins points with Xians (Strobel knows this, but Cameron is still too much of a dumbshit). Atheists see through that kind of BS instantly simply by asking, "Oh? What made you change your mind?" -- a sincerere atheist-to-Christian convert can't answer this question (and, invariably, there is a serious relationship behind it), while liars like Strobel and Cameron merely drag out every stupid tired apologetic ever written.

I agree that Strobel is a sharletan to some degree. I don't believe he was ever an atheist, for one thing. And I also doubt that he actually believes all the shit he writes about in his books, but merely writes whatever sells the most units (after all he is a veteran journalist). But I do believe Strobel was always a Christian, and he simply came up with a writing idea one day that might make him into an enema hose that could easily be inserted in the asshole of modern American Christianity, and he surprisingly succeeded in becoming one of the biggest. But, I would sooner doubt Hitchens sincerity as an antitheist, than Strobel's sincerity as a Christian.

...if only I could claim innate wisdom and deep insight. But alas, it was merely the result of living through a long and bumpy personal experience. I hope my story of pain, however, might help you cope a bit with your similar situation.
