Part of the reason why the democrats lack the votes is because it has been spineless.

Can someone actually substantiate the claim made by the OP by quoting the section of the bill that says this? RE: This is the terrifying legacy house Republicans are leaving us with

The bill deals with appointments to the Scientific Advisory Board. What part of that is giving you the most trouble?
They want to keep those pesky scientists out and let lobbyists in. I get it that you are all in favor of that but really, right now you just look dense. RE: This is the terrifying legacy house Republicans are leaving us with

If I am a scientist and I am not on the board, It is legal for me to advise the EPA on my own work. I could send a paper detailing my findings and what they mean to anyone in the EPA or on its advisory board. If I am a scientist I could testify at an advisory board meeting about my own work as long as I am not a member of that board. The law doesn't forbid scientists from advising the EPA on their own work. It forbids at the most....9 scientists from advising the EPA about their own work. The OP's claim was a gross exaggeration. Also I don't see how this bill would keep scientists off the board. That claim is a just a fear tactic. |
