Any of those 'I hate myself' character build issues I should be aware of?

I'm not looking to munchkin anything, but I'd hate to make things unnecessarily hard on myself having not played the first installment.

Thanks!

It really varies.. some bosses are easy for a warrior type class others easier for a wizard type class. Either way as long as you have good reflexes you should be good.. Dark Souls is all about timing.. learning from your mistakes and sometimes just pure luck.

Searching every corner for items and secrets will help tremendously so don;t rush it.. This is more of a game you really want to do right the first time. The more you die the less your hp is.. every time you die it knocks your overall hp down a chunk.. the only way to reverse this is humanity.. which is quite rare for about %60 of the game.

Another pointer.. whichever class you choose a bow is a necessity.. you are not going to want to fight hordes of enemies.. so standing back and shooting one guy in a pack and getting his attention while not getting the others attention is key to surviving. Plus don't be afraid to get online and summon others for help.. some bosses are next to impossible without help.

Anyways hope that helps!

P.S. Dont give up.. you may get frustrated and die over and over and over.. but being a life time gamer and loving games of all sorts i have never played a more immersive satisfying game. Don't rob yourself of the same feeling my friend!
In a universe full of infinite possibilities what can happen, will happen.

For one spoiler that is absolutely necessary if you play a mage type;

Cheers.

RE: Dark Souls II
My son bought this game for himself. He played the first Dark Souls and loved it so much that he spent a lot of time telling me about the lore and how hard the game was. Unfortunately for him, he lives in the dorms during the week and works on weekends so he hasn't really gotten to play yet.

I called and asked him if I could play his new game. His response was that he thought I should wait until he got home so he could explain certain things but he didn't mind if I used his game. Because I don't mind dying, I started a character and I LOVE THIS GAME.

By the time he came home this weekend, I already had figured out what I needed to do without his help. LOL It is sort of funny that his mom might beat the game before he does. Admittedly, I haven't gotten very far because I like to farm those souls so I just keep killing everything until they stop respawning.

There are some areas of the game that I just like to look at the gorgeous scenery. Some video games should be considered works of art.

They can be beaten, if you're patient. There's a fire sword you can obtain early on that can put the hurt on them really easy, and a lightning sword in the forest of giants that has just the right kind of swing to hit them, even though they're so tiny.

Thank you. As the nonexistent deity is my witness, I will kill those piglets.

To be honest, I wouldn't bother: they don't give you very many souls, in relation to how much trouble they'll give you. And there's nothing worth seeing in the area they're in either, so killing them is really just a victory for your pride. Tongue

Alternately, you could come back there later on in the game, when you're leveled up and carrying some more formidable weapons. The piglets don't scale with you, so they'll be exactly as strong then, as they are now; toward the end of the game I could just wade through them.

Damn rats. There is a part where you enter a mist with numerous rats who can poison and petrify you. You have to survive until the bigger rat enters the room and then kill him. I can NOT get past this part and can't summon anyone to help. Grumble. Grumble. So far, I am ignoring this particular boss level and I hope that when I level up, I will figure out a way to defeat it.
