It is not that I am pretending to say Those who seek redemption are better in any way. As so many of you are so quick to point out, we understand we are often times worse than those who hide behind vain righteousness that is spawned from with in yourselves or your culture. That is why we often are made to seek redemption.

It is because we can not pretend to be all high and mighty, or we understand that being "good Moral people" is the same as being the lessor of two evils (in the we are still evil) and as such still not worthy of eternal life. So that mean all the posts and posters who pointed out that I am less "moral" than you hold yourselves to are I deed correct. I don't pretend to hold myself to the standards of this generation's popular culture. As such I know I need to find attonement and redemption for my evil, and not just hide it by comparing it to another person's 'more' evil ways.

What are examples of over sensitivity?
The reaction to the advanced interrogation techniques. Why isn't this torture? Again torture is not legal, these techniques were deemed legal. That's it. our actions were in direct response to the threat our leaders thought we were under. They at the time had to weigh and sift though all the info presented and plot a course that lead us to a point in time where we now have the luxury to look back in self righteous judgement. Looking back we have the luxury of knowing that the events are always set in stone, that it is why it is so easy to almost always make a better desision (there are no variables any more)

however looking forward everything is a variable, and the best way to make a desision is with as much information as possible. Especially When that desision could mean the lives of 10's of million of people on both sides of a conflict, and when a hand full of bad men control the destiny of all those lives, I have no issue of turning those people inside out if it meant lives would be saved.

The other example of over sensitivity was to the discussion of slavery we just had. This is where common sense has failed most of you. In that we currently live in the backs of slaves and your over sensitivity to that word has kept you from acknowledging your personal role in the employment of slaves to provide you with the western life style you currently enjoy. This over sensitivity/loss of common sense has also kept you from acknoweledging that for those who are slaves need their slavery to survive. Because with out their jobs they would literally starve trying to live in the societal model we currently live in.

I can think of a few more but I think the pot is stirred well enough.

Thin veil of morality? are kidding me really Dirch just really.

No. Just no.

The entire basis of your argument seems to be that we are "overly" moral because we are repulsed by torture or slavery. Moreover, you're suggesting that our concept morality is inherently flawed because we are without god. At the same time, you, a person apparently "with" god, are justifying so-called advanced interrogation techniques (read: TORTURE) even though a recent Senate intelligence committee report found that these techniques did not yield useful intelligence and were brutal. Are you fucking kidding me?

Your arguments are nonsense to me, complete and utter nonsense. Not a thing you said makes a bit of fucking sense. None. As such I'm not even going to address anything else because what's the point? It's tantamount to arguing with someone at an asylum on the appropriate method of smearing feces on the wall.

Good day to you, sir.

No. Why? Authority, Power and consenquence enforce the True standard of righteousness, while nothing more than peer pressure and the mood of the mob dictates objective 'morality.'

Or they are trying to fill that hole in their hearts with overly 'moral' gestures and extra sensitivity to everything. to the point they are willing to suspend common sense and even the truth to try and pretend they some how are better than those who simply seek redemption..

Well, of course it seems like over-reacting to a guy like you, who has trained himself to habitually under-react to things that any reasonable person would find horrible, which you need to do if you want to assert that your god is "righteous" in any respect, let alone perfectly righteous. But saying that you see us as overly sensitive says little, just as the color blind man asserting that "all you people with color vision are so overly sensitive to color! It's like you're compensating for something!" says nothing about the actual state of human perception, and everything about the limits of the one making the assertion.

"Oh, it's only a little torture, what are you getting all worked up about?"

"Oh, it's only a little slavery, what are you getting all worked up about?"

"Geez, it's just a genocide or two! Over-react much?"

Your desperate need to be blase about atrocities doesn't somehow mean your opinions are the standard, baseline reactions, Drich. It just means you and your religion have desensitized yourself out of normal human reactions. Dodgy

you know you should stop twisting the bible around to make it not look like some really evil vile book when it clearly is. for fucks sake the bible morality is not the basis of morality. you see the bible says things like slavery, murder, rape, racism, pillaging, you see the problem here my morality is far superior because those things are clearly wrong.

Re: OP:

I have never attended church as a rule, other than the odd special occasion. Thus I attend the least I can.

I consider some of your opinions and views the epitome of douche-baggery. I do not support them.

Conclusion: premise of the OP refuted.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Give us an example of who has looked down on you so we can see what this self righteousness looks like.

Do you always change the arguement before you respond?

Also I already gave two examples. this thread is a paraody of one.

I'm not impressed, given that ANY religious person can claim this.

Ah, and by the way...

1. Stone children who don't obey

2. Stone homosexuals

3. Stone adulterers

Fuck your morals, and your genocidical psycho god. And if you don't follow these kind of morals, you're not a believer.

It's in the old book, which you conveniently discard when it becomes uncomfortable, but take when it suits your needs. The hate the gays agenda is also in there and is quoted frequently by pastors without reading a few lines further where eating shellfish, cloths of different fabrics or shaving are also called an abomination.

Now noone says, you're doing it today, that's obvious. But it's one of the laws supposedly given by god himself. If your child disobeys you, take him to the elders and stone him to death.

So why discard this and not the hate on gay people?
