What will it take to convert you?

RE: What will it take to convert you?
That's what it comes down to, for me.

Why should I worship anything? I see no reason to, God or otherwise. What does it achieve, for me or for them?

So I don't much care if Yahweh is real and hiding behind a cloud, I'm not worshipping him.

We can be mates though, as long as his followers got him totally wrong.

When I was coming out of religion all it would have taken to keep me in was one shred to show that Jesus was unique. One shred that would have differentiated him from the masses of other preachers at the time. And now? That would be a step. A HUGE step. It would help. But would it be enough? I don't know. Maybe, maybe not. Now it would help if I had more.

I was one of those metaphorical Christians, who took the whole of the Gospels as allegorical or metaphorical. So the veracity of the Gospels is unimportant. The uniqueness or divinity of Jesus would be a BIG step in the right direction. The problem comes in that the next needs are impossible. The historical events of the OT are not true. The early church had no cohesion, and no unified theology or philosophy. If there was a god guiding it, wouldn't there be?

Yeah there's another thing, I don't give a fuck about jesus. No offence to him personally, but (if he existed at all) he was either just a man, or else he was God going through some stupid theatre. Either way, it has no bearing on reality now. The world is shit, so whatever jesus thought he was doing hasn't worked.

It's possible the story is completely wrong and jesus was somehow really amazing and did other stuff which really has made the world a better place. In which case, thanks jesus, that's brilliant and I appreciate it. But sit around worshipping him? Why? To remember him would be enough I think.

being stuck in a room for 48 to 72 hours with only a Tv with the 700 club on with a bottle of red whine and crackers as my only nourishment.
And the tv can't be turned off or unplugged and i am stuck there.

Convert to what exactly, Spooky?

So, I suppose the challenge in this scenario is that there 's only one bottle... Because with unlimited supply of red wine and crackers, I can take a lot of garbage...

Jesus blood supply and flesh would run out eventually.

Evidence would surely help. Perhaps an utter transformation in my experience of the world that casts doubt on all of the scientific method to find sensible solutions to metaphysical questions, and then conversely, justifies all appeal to personal credulity and self-assurance.
