What will it take to convert you?

RE: What will it take to convert you?
Saying God doesn't need to prove he exists is stupid. We've already assumed he made the whole universe, even though he was perfect, just for his own amusement. Now he's bored with it, like a kid on Boxing Day?

If god did exist and he created everything he probably did get bored and moved on. If he can create a whole universe whats to say he didn't make others and other earth like planets to torment? Like god is going to be looking after humanity if he can create another race of beings. But from the evidence there is now currently god didn't make anything or did anything.

It's quite possible he made the universe and us in it, sent jesus, and when he saw what we'd made out of christianity 350 years later, he said "fuck this shit, I'm making a new one!" and up and left
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

God plays with universal legos....
And exactly my point why should he care about anyone or anything if he can make a whole new universe from nothing.

None, right?

Like I say, it would depend on the nature of the encounter. Not sure what my questions would be but if I felt the answers were legit, why not? Presumably I would bring up the possibility of its being an advanced alien race. But really, if the show is convincing enough what does it matter?

I used to think a god could just fly down and 'prove' itself and I might convert, but honestly, how does a god prove that it has supernatural powers? If god appears on earth and testing proves that he/she/it is using powers as claimed, doesn't that make those powers natural, and perhaps eventually understandable? I dunno.
I'm imagining god reading those questions, pausing for a moment, then expressing surprise a moment before he blinks out of existence.

"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

For myself I'd say god has his/her work cut out. It would probably require altering my ability to exercise free will. Most religions have too many hypocritical practices and texts for me to buy into the bs.

There is a further question if you're a theist. We'll give your intelligence the benifet of the doubt and ask why you still believe with all the evidence against the bible/torah/whatever?

With all the "proof" and "case" threads going on that are either trolls or actually trying convert a few of us, I'm curious.

Monkeys flying outta my ass. And not just any kind of monkey. A very specific kind of monkey that is between me and "god".

A low bar to achieve for any supreme being. Oh, and $100 million in a Swiss bank account in my name.

Heh, anal dwelling butt monkey.

That sounds Adamsians or Pratchett-esque.

Hmm good point. If God needed to make stuff for amusement, and we are it, I cannot possibly see how he wouldn't get instantly bored. I mean, I got bored very quickly and I'm presuming gods brain is much more powerful than mine.
