Christians freak out again

Christians freak out again
Quote:The city of Brampton (near Toronto, Ontario) opens its meetings with this invocation:

We gather today to reaffirm our commitment of service to our City and the people who live here. Give to each member of this council a strong and abiding sense of the great responsibilities laid upon us. Guide us here in our deliberations. Give us a deep and thorough understanding of the needs of the people we serve. Help us to use power wisely and well. Inspire us to decisions which establish and maintain a city of prosperity and righteousness where freedom prevails and where justice rules. Amen.

Pretty harmless, right?

Well, considering the previous invocation used to be the Lord’s Prayer, people are freaking out

How about you say your prayers in church and stop with the creepy chanting?

Actually, a very fine question is asked at the end.

Quote:If there has to be a prayer, it only makes sense for a town to switch over to a non-denominational one.

Maybe its time to dump the whole fucking prayer thing in the nearest shitter....where it can join all the other shit.

This is like the stink over Happy Holidays. It includes christians just as much as any other belief system, but many christians don't want to be inclusive. They want their preferential treatment.

Good video to watch, if you want to know how common the Jesus story really is.

Which ironically is the same thing Jebus told them in part.

Matthew 6: 5: When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

Matthew 6: 6: But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.…

This is one case where I wish they would read their stupid Bible.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Keeping it private, and not forcing it on people seems like the most un christian thing to do, nowadays. Especially since mainstream christians are trying to sae people from going to fiery hell for eternity.

This urge to inflict their beliefs on others bepeaks an insecurity on their part that is unbecoming someone claiming to be in possession of The Truth.
