Everything is so new and scary.
In every country and every age, the priest had been hostile to Liberty.
- Thomas Jefferson
"Every luxury has a deep price. Every indulgence, a cosmic cost. Each fiber of pleasure you experience causes equivalent pain somewhere else. This is the first law of emodynamics [sic]. Joy can be neither created nor destroyed. The balance of happiness is constant.
Fact: Every time you eat a bite of cake, someone gets horsewhipped. Facter: Every time two people kiss, an orphanage collapses. Factest: Every time a baby is born, an innocent animal is severely mocked for its physical appearance. Don't be a pleasure hog. Your every smile is a dagger. Happiness is murder. Vote "yes" on Proposition 1321. Think of some kids. Some kids."
The icons next to the thread titles on the "today's posts" list have changed a little bit. Does anyone know what the little ribbon hanging on the page icon means?
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

FNM, I think the ribbon is a hot thread.
Yep, that's what the hover text says, blue for unread posts, white for no unread posts, and red ribbon for hot thread. Which I'm gathering is higher than 10/15 responses in a certain time period.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Agh...forgot about the hovertext.
Thanks, guys. Kudos to both.

Cool, I didn't even notice the hovertext until now. Thanks.

The bookmark on my desktop did not work whereas the bookmark on my tablet did. The only difference I could see was that the desktop was https:// rather than http://
Not a big problem. Good to be back. Last night we had chicken and I sacrificed the entrails to the Divine Tiberius. I didn't burn them or anything, just ran them through the garbage disposal with the Latin prayer "Fuckus Offus" going through my head. Seems to have worked though. |
