Game of Thrones Season 5 Discussion [SPOILERS WITHIN]

I was hoping the show would speed up Dany's progression to Westeros, and they kind of need to given that they're running out of time (two series left is it?). Jorah and Daario could take all of next season tracking her down

Does anyone think Jon is actually dead?

I've been thinking of the Starks in general:

1.  Arya's gone blind
2.  We haven't seen Bran for a while, but he's got his "greensight", and I wonder if that will tie in somehow with Arya's blindness.
3.  Sansa's jumped off a high wall with Theon Greyjoy
4.  Jon's been stabbed, apparently to death
5.  There are speculations that the Night's King is Robb Stark (which would be strange, but there are a lot of hypotheses about it, and, really, they can do whatever they want.  The Night's King was once Lord Commander).

I feel like the Starks' stories are all going to point to the White Walkers somehow, and I think that leaves open a lot of possibilities, including Jon Snow turning into one.

Absolutely, but lots of things seem plain silly unless they're written well.

Yeah, but I don't see any possible way to make that feasbile. I mean, Craster had been giving babies to the white walkers for years and years, and the episode in which we saw the NK there were at the very least 13 walkers in that episode. So unless Craster gave the walkers 12+ babies that happen to grow up super duper fast in the 5 episodes between Robb Stark's death and the NK's appearance (not to mention how Robb came back to life and how the hell he got so far north and how he got the power to turn people in white walkers), I really find it utterly inconceivable.

I totally agree, but again, good writing can make things conceivable. Of one thing, I have very little doubt: the White Walkers are related to the Starks in some way.

They're alive. They did land in snow, this time of year in the north they have literally like 10 feet of snow to jump into.

They're gonna have a helluva time hiding their tracks when they start trying to get away. Let's hope for lots of snow to hide the giant crater they created jumping off the ramparts and the valley of snow that will tell the Bolton men exactly where they went after they dig themselves out...

I hope they have a little bit happier of a story next season. But this is GOT we're talking about.

Agreed.  One thing the show does pretty damn well is getting us to feel sympathy for characters once thought irredeemable.  And her face was great when Frankenmountain was carrying her away, like a "i'm going to kill them all" face.

That shadow of a dragon over King's Landing was in a vision Bran saw last season, the big question is if it was a vision of the past or future~

Yeah, the Tyrion-Varys buddy cop comedy is one of my favorites in the show.

Mine, too. Varys in the books is kind of... simpering and gross in a way. Varys on the show is stone-cold awesome.

He's like his father.  He actually missed the trees for the forest.  So focused on the grand overarching ideas of peace with the wildlings and unification against the white walkers that he totally missed the dangerous positions in which he was putting his men, who had spent genertaions fighting against the very people he gives free land to, while they're all bound to the wall for life.  Shocking moment, but not unexpected.  I do hope the red woman plays a role though, since it would be kinda pointless to make a show of her arriving before he dies.

Do it!  The books are amazing.

I'm about 3/4 of the way through book 1 right now. Robert has just died and Eddard has just been turned on by the city watch, or whomever the guys Little Finger was supposed to get for him.

It's implied in the books that he's so grossly and entirely disfigured that for the sake of people not realizing he's a monster he is ordered by Qyburn (who appears to have contrl over him) to never remove his helmet. Mild spoiler

In the books there's another possibility that he's simply headless, as in the books his skull is supposedly send to Dorne as consolation for Oberyn's death, and Bran has a vision of a massive warrior without a head matching his description

Well, it's easier to describe in the books but Varys is a master of disguise. He puts on the effeminate perfumed well-fed milksop act so that when he's in disguise people have no chance of recognizing him.

I see Dany with Dothraki, dragons and unsullied being a rather potent force to invade Westeros, just when the white walkers swarm over the wall.

She still has to go back to Meereen and get her other dragons and the unsullied though, who knows how long that could take. And won't the Dothraki just rape her and sell her to someone or whatever it is they do? I don't think the fact that she was Khaleesi will count for much with Drogo dead

I'm leaning towards Melisandre reviving Jon somehow but I think that's possible too. Although now I think about it why wouldn't the rest of the watch just burn the body? Or if Melisandre revives him why wouldn't they just kill him again (and again and again and again if need be)?

I think if she addresses the Dothraki in their own language it will give them pause...plus the massive black firebreathing dinosaur that I'm sure is going to join her very soon.
