RE: What's everyone up to right now?

At work, monitoring the latest on Hurricane Delta. Looks like my day will be spent keeping my Captains informed of any changes to the forecast and Coast Guard decisions about port condition status. For those who may give a damn, we are in Port Condition Yankee right now and likely going to Port Condition Zulu tomorrow morning.
Other than that, just drinking coffee and poking around AF. You know, "working".

Don't know what those level designations mean, but Hurricane "Delta" means #30, and it's only early October. Stay safe!

The designations concern the expected wind speed from a tropical storm or hurricane and the timeframe in which it is expected to make landfall.
Usually, a designation of 'Zulu' is quickly followed by a decision to close the Mississippi River at SW Pass to all vessel traffic. Those ships that remain outside drift until the storm has passed; those in the river are made to vacate their berths and anchor to ride it out.
For now, it appears that Lake Charles is likely to bear the brunt of the storm -- again. Those poor people!

#25 actually. They only start with a list of 21 names.

(This post was last modified: October 8, 2020 at 3:37 pm by Rev. Rye.)
So, here's the itinerary for tomorrow's septotomy and turbinectomy:
- By 6:15-30, I have to be at the Golf Surgical Center
- In the next hour, I go through a sort of orientation where we go over what's supposed to happen, I undress to my socks and briefs, and I have to take an IV (most likely propofol, and It took a strange amount of effort to get the woman to explain just how I'm getting my anesthetic.)
- The surgery starts at 7:30, and will last roughly an hour.
- After an hour, I will be in stage 1 of recuperation, where I'm resting in a hospital bed (somehow I have to do this with the IV still in me) for 40 minutes.
- Then, I get to Stage 2, where I'm laying in a La-Z-Boy with cookies and juice (or water).
- Dad's supposed to pick me back up by 10 AM.
Still nervous as fuck.

Well, at least I'm COVID-negative.

The plan is that as soon as I can, I’ll take a picture, add an obliquely-related quote from a movie (one where the main character spends most of the film with his face bandaged, just as a hint) and post it here, maybe with more commentary.

I just finished hand lapping the rings on a nice CZ 455 I picked up on Sunday.
