Anarcho-syndicalism is for a prefered peaceful transition, but they are not against action either. They typically frown on ideas of open revolution, instead prefering a "general strike" in which the workers unite, stop the flow of production, then regain the means of production from the hands of the few back into the hands of everyone as it should be. This will more than likely become violent, but not as violent as all out war.

I doubt occupy wall street will turn into this, but I'd sure love for it to I don't see the workers stopping the flow of production when so many listen the jibes of the news media

Government and "state" are shut down permanently. Syndicates (trade unions) then prop up the existing social infrastructure to ensure that services continue. These syndicates are nothing like the current trade unions, as they lack Business managers or any "leader" class. Lots are thrown and people are selected to represent that specific syndicate for that moment. All syndicate members are considered in the lots, not just a chosen few. Once that representation is done, the elected return to their normal work.

Interesting... I'm not completely sold on a complete elimination of non-elected leadership (though I would be sold on the people who have an affinity for the job and volunteer specifically for it to be rotated frequently).

the next time a representative is needed, lots are thrown and a new representative is chosen. In other words, there is no constant "leader class" or "boss class". Businesses are run the same way, with "team leaders" chosen that morning. the next morning a new team leader is chosen...if a team leader is even needed on the job to begin with. Rotating representation is a good thing as it ensures that everyone has a voice, wether minority or majority minded. Power is corruption, and by randomizing it as much as possible, the temptation is greatly reduced.

As far as how elections go, there are several ways that syndicates can run their elections. The big thing is that everything is decentralised, so that if a vote is made, you actually get a bigger voice in at least your local elections. it really depends on how the syndicate votes on how they will run the system. Some may give requirements that candidates be well skilled in their trade. Others may prefer random revolving leadership (something I am more intune with). If you dont like the way one area is running its syndicate federation, then you just pick up and move to another syndicate area. Some syndicates may actually use a form of money, others may use barter. none of it is permanent and can be changed at a later date if the people feel that it is the right choice for the moment. Direct elections are a big thing with sydicalists. none of this "electoral college" bullshit either. One member, one voice, one vote.

The syndicate flag has been in use for over 100 years, so yes, it is very much a real flag.

The CNT says of its membership, "We make no distinction at the time of admission, we require only that you are a worker, student or unemployed. The only people who cannot join are those belonging to repressive organisations (police, military, security guards), employers or other exploiters".

In fact many of Spain's regions were under anarcho-syndicalism after their civil war. The people ruled in solidarity until the fascists came into power and violently stomped the voice of the people down.

CNT had a more stable voting/leader system than the one I have suggested (randomizzed leaders). Like I said before. It just depends on how the majority members feel the vote should go.
