London mayor: Britain shouldn't host Trump

London Mayor Sadiq Khan says it would be wrong for Britain to host US President Donald Trump on a state visit, describing some of the US leader's views on Islam as "ignorant".

Khan and Trump have a history. During the US presidential election campaign, Khan was among many people who spoke out against Trump's proposed ban on Muslims entering the United States, an idea he said would play into the hands of extremists.

Trump has criticised Khan, accusing the mayor of making a "pathetic excuse" over his statement urging Londoners not to be alarmed by the presence of additional police on the streets in response to an attack in June.

US Supreme Court cancels arguments on previous Trump travel ban

The U.S. Supreme Court canceled oral arguments scheduled in October to decide the legality of President Donald Trump’s previous travel ban, signaling the court might dismiss the case.

The Court acted after the White House announced on Sunday it was replacing the temporary executive order with a more tailored ban on eight countries that legal experts said could be harder to fight in court than the prior ban.

Rachel Maddow had an interesting piece on how Nixon did a similar thing in the 1970s - coopting a social movement moment in order to stoke division in the country and "win back his base" - basically the same thing Trump is doing here.

Bottom line: The first amendment protects an individual's freedom to speak, protest, and assemble.  The NFL is a private organization and they have the right to make their own code of conduct rules which forbid such public protests (there are reasonable arguments for why such rules should and shouldn't be in place, but that's neither here nor there) and the :vomit: president of the United States advocating that a private entity fire employees for exercising their first amendment rights which, as far as I've heard, aren't in violation of NFL rules is just fuckin' nuts.

Trump never had any intention of upholding and defending the Constitution when he took his oath of office.  He has always always always had his eye on on the money and how he could parlay more of it into his pockets.

He's a monstrous asshole and a despicable human and every single day that he remains the leader of the country I live in I am embarrassed.
